Data Science Manager
Overview AARP Services, Inc., founded in 1999, is a wholly-owned taxable subsidiary of AARP. AARP Services manages the provider relationships for and performs quality control oversight of the wide range of products and services that carry the AARP name and are made available by independent providers as benefits to AARP’s millions of members. The provider offers currently span health products, financial products, travel and leisure products, and life event services. Specific products include Medicare supplemental insurance; credit cards, auto and home, mobile home and motorcycle insurance, life insurance and annuities; member discounts on rental cars, cruises, vacation packages and lodging; special offers on technology and gifts; pharmacy services and legal services. AARP Services also engages in new product development activities for AARP and provides certain consulting services to outside companies. The Data Science Manager will lead the development of scalable algorithms and real-time recommendation systems, driving key business insights. This role focuses on building efficient data pipelines and implementing advanced machine learning models for classification and regression tasks, including decision trees, random forests, logistic regression, and linear regression. The manager will collaborate with marketing campaign stakeholders to identify opportunities for optimizing data workflows and develop innovative procedures to enhance departmental performance. Additionally, they will conduct data extractions and ensure data quality for successful marketing campaign execution. Strong communication skills are essential to effectively engage with key stakeholders and convey complex insights. Responsibilities Performs key analytic activities (test design/evaluations, incrementality/attribution, journey analytics, etc.) to generate insights. Manages intake and output process for technical and non-technical internal audiences requesting analytic projects. Develops scalable algorithms and methods to provide audience segmentation recommendations. Utilizes data engineering procedures to feature engineer, move data, and automate products. Provides education and training to department staff. Provides direct oversight and executes research. Assists in the development, maintenance, and monitoring of best practices. Writes code proficiently to generate answers to analytic inquiries. Qualifications Master's degree in quantitative discipline including: Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Math, Economics or other related field required. 4+ years of experience. Proficiency in open-source programming and predictive modeling. Experience working in database manipulation, navigation, and harvesting of data. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate technical language to non-technical and non-data with internal clients and key stakeholders. This includes the ability to communicate complex topics. Experience in Machine Learning, Databricks, SAS, PySpark, and Python. Preferred Digital marketing platform experience with multi-channel marketing campaigns. Experience with AI, Business Intelligence and Visualization.
