Data Scientist, Omics, Statistics
The primary function of the Data Scientist is to provide analysis and develop algorithms and software for clinical and scientific problems solved by multi-omic integrative approaches.

Working in the Bachireddy Laboratory provides a unique opportunity to engage in research questions addressed by the application of innovative, high-throughput experimental technologies to deeply annotated, longitudinal sample banks, ensuring clinically meaningful results. Our group members employ "end-to-end" solutions, encompassing data generation, analysis, interpretation and functional validation in a genuinely collaborative fashion where experimental and analytical design occur iteratively among wet and dry lab experts who sit and work side-by-side. https://www.mdanderson.org/research/departments-labs-institutes/labs/bachireddy-laboratory.html

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Data Analysis:
Provide leadership role computationally in ongoing research project with moderate supervision from the PI. Independently design computational experiments, analysis approaches and perform results interpretation. Analyze high-dimensional data from high-throughput profiling technologies (bulk and single cell) such as whole exome sequencing and a range of single cell approaches (e.g. RNA/TCR/ATAC/CITE-seq). Proficiency in using High Performance Computing (HPC). Download, Organize, and maintain data and document code developed for the ongoing research project. Remain up-to-date on immunogenomic tools.

Data Management:
Develop/modify/create pipelines for interpreting data from single-cell (and/or bulk data) experiments from publicly available and in house datasets. Develop and maintain software tools and infrastructure for resolving specific problems. Ensure data organization.

Marginal Assistance:
Advise, instruct, and assist junior personnel and lab people in analyzing, defining and resolving computer problems. Assist in the development, testing and revision of programs. Assist in applying advanced statistical methods, simulation models, and skilled programming as needed. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:Required: Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Computational Biology, or related field.

Preferred: Master's degree or PhD with a concentration in Science, Engineering or related field.

EXPERIENCE:

Required: Three years experience in scientific software or industry development/analysis. With Master's degree, one years experience required. With PhD, no experience required.

Preferred: Experience in omics, statistics, bioinformatics, single cell data sets.
