Our award-winning team has managed thousands of projects across all sectors — hospitals, airports, and entire university campuses; infrastructure like mass transit and water-treatment facilities; and energy and resource assignments, from mines to wind farms. **Your Opportunity** We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Data Scientist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be working closely with Controls Specialists and Controls Managers to collect, analyze, and interpret large datasets by developing dashboards and reports to help inform business decisions. Working in partnership with Controls Leadership, you will develop and implement standards for technology usage within the group and linking component subsystems to work together as a coherent unit for program management. **Your Key Responsibilities** + Collect and analyze large datasets to derive actionable insights. + Use statistical methods to interpret data and generate useful business reports. + Identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in data. + Ensure data accuracy and integrity through validation and cleaning processes. + Interpret program data for continuous improvement. + Collaborate with the Controls team and other teams to resolve data-related issues. + Design and develop comprehensive and visually appealing reports and dashboards in Microsoft Power BI. + Prepare project performance reports on a portfolio of projects including variance reporting. + Communicate findings to non-technical stakeholders effectively. + Assist with Business Process development regarding data gathering and analysis. + Communicate and coordinate with other team members to complete project tasks to meet specific deadlines. + Participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought. **Qualifications** **Your Capabilities and Credentials** + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. + Organized, self-motivated, and enjoy finding solutions to problems. + Excellent written/verbal communication and collaboration abilities. + Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work. + Knowledge of database design and theories. + Ability to work independently and as part of a team. + Ability to multi-task, manage time, organize, and set priorities and make timely decisions. + Proficient in data analysis tools and programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R). + Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI). + Familiarity with data warehousing and ETL processes. + Experience with API calls and management (e.g., REST, JSON or XML objects). + Experience working with location data and maps is preferred. **Education and Experience** + Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science). + 5-7 years’ experience as a Data Scientist, or in a similar role. + Industry-specific knowledge and experience (e.g., Architecture, Engineering, Construction) is preferred. + Prior work in project controls would be considered an asset. _This description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice._ Stantec is a place where the best and brightest come to build on each other’s talents, do exciting work, and make an impact on the world around us.
