Job Description Summar y This position is part of the Data Science & Analytics Chapter, responsible for providing Data Science and Machine Learning Engineering expertise and solution delivery across the organization . The function of this role is to partner with the business to identify opportunities to apply data science approaches and create data science products that deliver business value. The successful candidate that fills this position will have the skills to identify , prototype, and build data science products. We seek an ambitious and skilled Data Scientist to join the team, playing a crucial role in product lines, helping to drive value for stakeholders. This role is part of the Information and Analytics job family. You will be working with business unit stakeholders to prototype and deliver innovative data science applications that add value to the company’s businesses across the value chain. Key Responsibilities + Identifying and framing opportunities to apply advanced analytics, modelling , and related technologies to data to help Chevron businesses gain insight and improve decision making, workflow, and automation. + Identifying , acquiring , cleansing/preparing, storing data, and developing reusable data related products aligned with defined architecture patterns. + Develop ing , testing, a nd e stablishing the life cycle management process for models . + Providing technical mentoring in modelling and analytics technologies, the specifics of the modelling process, and general consulting skills. + Understanding the business use of data and the stakeholders’ requirements to support work processes and strategic business objectives by leveraging data and software engineering techniques, data science to create business value through data accessibility (which includes data ingestion, data preparation and analytics processing) . + Enabling other stakeholders by making data available for advanced analytics models, and contributing to advanced analytics models, working with data analysts and architects to scale and deploy solutions including models, documentation, training and integration. + Contributing to the inner source development of foundational tools, and/or the deployment of technical services including the modelling process, and general consulting skills.   What You Will Bring Experience + 5 - 15 years post-qualification experience as a Data Scientist or in a similar role. + Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python. + Experience in model development using machine learning algorithms and libraries (e.g.: supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning, time series, ensemble methods, etc) + Knowledge and/or experience with data acquisition, preparation, and validation; data movement and transformation; data modelling and software engineering using technologies such as: Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Bricks, Synapse and SQL expertise, Python and Ansible experience. + Excellent data cleaning and data visualization skills, proficiency in descriptive and inferential statistics. Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree in in statistics, computer science, mathematics, or a related field (minimum of second class, upper division) or Master's degree in statistics, computer science, mathematics, or a related field. Additional Considerations + Ability to build capabilities in new technical areas by leveraging training, documentation, and other team members. Ability to build organizational capabilities in others as needed to raise team performance. + Ability to foster synergetic cross-functional relationships and collaboration with all stakeholders. Able to influence diverse stakeholders. + Strong analytical skills - has a good understanding of how data and analysis can be utilized to gain a deeper understanding of a business issue.
