Group 22—Counter Weapons of Mass Destruction (C-WMD) Systems Group. The C-WMD Systems Group develops innovative systems and technologies for prevention, preparedness, characterization, detection, mitigation, medical response, remediation, and attribution of CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive) and related threats. Our principal R&D sponsors are the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Defense. Our mission-oriented staff members work in collaborative project teams to study and develop solutions for a broad range of technical questions of importance to countering the proliferation and use of WMDs. Job Description

The C-WMD Systems Group is seeking a data scientist at the Technical Staff level to support a broad range of
technology areas to address key stakeholder needs and further the Group’s core C-WMD mission areas. Examples
of problems include: assessing sensors and sensing architectures to enable rapid detection of biological and
chemical attacks, defining and developing systems to support broad biosurviellance challenges for both civilian
and military missions, and evaluating technologies and architecture concepts to aid in advanced situational
awareness. This position will support the C-WMD and broader Lincoln Laboratory mission by designing, executing
and communicating advanced statistical analyses, AI/ML models, simulations of complex systems, and rigorous
experimental test design and analysis. Additionally, the staff member may also support broad systems analysis
efforts to guide solutions to the nation's most pressing national security challenges and threats to human health.
Activities within the group are highly collaborative and multidisciplinary. The C-WMD Systems Group draws from a
very diverse talent pool across the fields of engineering (e.g., electrical, mechanical, chemical, biomedical,
general), physics, mathematics, applied mathematics, computer science, chemistry, and biology. Staff members
work in a team environment to study a broad range of key technical questions to countering the proliferation and
use of WMDs.

Requirements

The position requires the following:
• Ph.D. (or M.S. with 5+ years experience or  B.S. with 8+  of experience) in statistics, mathematics, data Science or related field.
• Demonstrated skills in statistical analysis, practical applications of AI/ML, modeling and simulation
• Clear communication skills to a broad audience
• Interest and ability to consistently learn and apply new things to solve na onal security challenges.

Highly-qualified candidates may also have experience with:
• C-WMD technologies such as chemical and biological sensors
• Data analysis packages such as R, Python and Matlab
