As a Data Scientist, you will partner with and influence decisions for our Reverse Supply Chain and Category Pricing teams. Your role impacts customers and adds value through innovative data capabilities and insights to optimize processes and strategies. We seek candidates with experience in analytic techniques, operations research, and machine learning to solve problems in return analytics, pricing, forecasting, and operations.
This role is hybrid, which means you will work some days on site at a Best Buy location and some days virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process. For this role, you must be located within a drivable distance to our office in Richfield, Minnesota.
What you’ll doSource, interpret, and transform operational and transactional data into valuable analytical insights that inform pricing decisions and reverse logistics.Develop and enhance Best Buy's pricing optimization strategies.Utilize expertise in predictive modeling and forecasting trends.Leverage returns analytics to identify patterns and insights that drive improvements in the reverse supply chain.Craft and deliver compelling presentations to stakeholders, effectively communicating findings and recommendations.Collaborate with data engineers to design and implement scalable data pipelines and infrastructure for advanced analytics.Be a trusted advisor to pricing, secondary market, and return operations teams.Explore and experiment with emerging technologies and methodologies to continuously enhance the capabilities of the analytics teams.Lead teams in formulating, researching, and solving business-critical problems.Basic QualificationsBachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., mathematics, statistics, operations research, physics, economics, computer science, engineering).2 years of experience in data science to include applied or industry experience; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.Working knowledge of various analytic and statistical methods (i.e., data analysis, statistics, operations research, and/or machine learning) with application to business problems.1 year of hands-on experience using data analytics and optimization tools (e.g. SQL, Python, R, Gurobi, Vertex AI).1 year of hands-on experience in large structured and unstructured data environments.Preferred QualificationsMaster’s or Ph.D. in a quantitative field (e.g., mathematics, statistics, operations research, physics, economics, computer science, engineering).4 years of applied or industry experience in data science and/or a quantitative field.2 years of experience in the areas of pricing optimization, forecasting, segmentation, and predictive models in sophisticated and complex environments.1 year of experience developing and deploying scalable machine learning models in production using GCP, Azure or AWS.Knowledge of Machine Learning / Deep Learning, including Python libraries like TensorFlow and PyTorch.Retail industry experience.What is in it for you
