Job Summary
The Data Scientist will drive Carhartt’s analytics direction to help us gain a deeper understanding of the Carhartt business. They will work in a defined area to create proof of concept and ML solutions whose insights impact business outcomes. This position will partner with business leaders and project owners to identify the appropriate analytics solution to answer their business questions – ranging from descriptive to predictive deliverables.

Representative Responsibilities
Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) prior to model creation Identify right analytics approach for business needs Build model, including selection of best approach, and validate results Document entirety of project, including but not limited to technical requirements and specifications in source code repository, training materials and business-facing overview documents. Work hands-on with end users of product. Ensure research and design are well-defined. Responsible for making sure that end results are applicable, understood, socialized, and drive business value. As part of this, driving initial discovery workshops and regular show and tells for releases. Manage workflow of data science project, including collaboration points and dependencies between internal and external teams. Responsible for keeping projects on track and hitting deliverable deadlines.
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in math, analytics, statistics, economics, engineering or quantitative degree, or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree
Required Skills & Experience
5+ years’ experience in and solid knowledge of analytics and data mining techniques including the following: 2 years applied data science implementation experience in a business setting Advanced analytics experience with working knowledge of machine learning programming principals and techniques Demonstrated understanding of big data problems, preferably in the retail, supply chain or manufacturing domain Basic business and data knowledge with an aptitude of curiosity and increased learning Working knowledge of relational databases, SQL query language, time series and unstructured datasets Experience with software engineering principles and at least one general programming language such as Python, C/C++, etc. Experience working with Python and other open source packages for modeling and data processing Experience with visualization, dimensional modeling and designing star schema data structures for efficient data retrieval and analysis in Tableau or Power BI The ability to communicate complex information in a succinct and easy-to-understand method Positive, can-do attitude; ability to be flexible and open to changes in requirements, directions or circumstances Proactive and self-motivated with an orientation towards delivering analytics products that move the business Ability to work effectively as part of a team, and with all types of technical and non-technical partners
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
This position has a Remote location: Associate will have no regular requirement to be on-site. Travel on-site is limited to special events. Carhartt is a tobacco free workplace.#LI-Remote
