You Are:
The Data Scientist in the Production Support Team plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and continuous optimization of data-driven systems across both cloud and on-prem environments. This role combines data analysis, system troubleshooting, and technical support to resolve complex issues, enhance system efficiency, and support business-critical operations. The Data Scientist will work closely with cross-functional teams to monitor, analyze, and address data processing, integration, and performance challenges, ensuring seamless operation of applications and services used by clients.
The Opportunity:
· Monitor system health using enterprise tools (Splunk, Datadog, AppDynamics)
· Execute and monitor batch jobs and ETL processes using Airflow
· Perform real-time monitoring of Kafka message queues and data pipelines
· Track system performance and resource utilization
· Monitor database health (SQL Server, MongoDB, Snowflake)
· Execute scheduled maintenance tasks and system updates
· Respond to s and incidents within defined SLAs
· Perform initial incident triage and root cause analysis
· Follow established escalation procedures for L2/L3 support
· Track incidents through resolution in ServiceNow
· Update status and communicate with stakeholders
· Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation
· Manage Unix Job using shell scripting
· Execute MongoDB operations and maintenance
· Monitor cloud resources in AWS/GCP environments
· Support container environments (Docker/Kubernetes)
· Work closely with cross-functional teams, including DevOps, engineering, and business analysts, to ensure data solutions align with overall system requirements.
· Communicate technical findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders to support informed decision-making.

What You Need:
· Key Qualifications:
o Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
o Experience with monitoring tools (Splunk, Datadog, AppDynamics)
o Strong Unix/Linux administration skills and shell scripting
o Database Expereince (MongoDB, SQL Server, Snowflake)
o Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP)
o Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
o Understanding of ETL processes and data pipelines
o Basic programming knowledge (Python, Java, .NET)
o Experience with messaging systems (Kafka)
o Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
· Desirable Skills:
o Experience working in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, etc.) for data management and processing.
o Familiarity with healthcare or insurance data systems and configurations is a plus.
o Experience with automation tools for managing data pipelines and system monitoring.
Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.
Role Location: Remote
Compensation Range: $90,000-$136,000

Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. They are eligible to participate in the Company’s 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as the following Company-paid Employee Only benefits: basic life insurance, accidental death and disability insurance, and short- and long-term disability benefits. Regular employees may purchase additional voluntary short-term disability benefits, and participate in a Health Savings Account (HSA) as well as a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for healthcare, dependent child care, and/or commuting expenses as allowable under IRS guidelines. Benefits offerings vary in Puerto Rico.

All US employees who work in a state or locality with more generous paid sick leave benefits than specified here will receive the benefit of those sick leave laws.
