Clarivate is expanding its Data Science team and looking for a talented Senior Data Scientist to join us in Barcelona.

About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments

An advanced degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Technology, or Engineering, or equivalent work experience.

5+ years of industry experience, including applying ML and NLP in real-world scenarios.

Excellent analytical and Python programming skills (Java and R are a plus)

Experience in Computer Vision

Effective communicator and presenter, skilled at connecting with stakeholders, gathering insights, and conveying complex ideas.

Ability to rapidly test, adapt, and implement methods—from data extraction to validation.

It would be great if you also had . . .

Experience with search engines, classification algorithm, recommendation systems and relevance evaluation.

Hands-on experience in Building and deploying ML pipelines.

Background in NLP solutions for he legal domain, experience in patents is a plus.

Master's or PhD with focus on AI/ML.

What will you be doing in this role?

You will research and implement ML and NLP solutions to enhance user experience in Intellectual Property data and products, with a strong focus on the patent domain. This includes identifying and validating algorithms, exploring data for insights, recommending new data sources, and uncovering innovative applications of ML and NLP within Clarivate’s extensive content and datasets.

Product you will be developing

We are working on a wide range of products involving search, predictive and other analytics, as well as decision support. You’ll be helping out with new, state of the art solutions to improve the tools that help both internal and external customers drive innovation at major companies. Your main focus will be taking existing patent drafting software to the next level with all the latest AI technology.

About the Team 

You'll be part of a dynamic team of eight Data Scientists based in Belgium, Spain, and the U.S., specializing in Intellectual Property data and products, including trademarks, patents, and case law. As part of a larger Data Science, Search, and Content group of 100+ professionals (including 40+ Data Scientists and ML Engineers), we collaborate closely with Product, Sales, Marketing, and Operations teams to maximize customer value. With experienced Principal Data Scientists on board, we provide strong mentorship and growth opportunities. While many of our projects are driven by customer needs, we also explore new technologies and develop proof-of-concept solutions to showcase their business impact.

Hours of Work  

This is a Full-Time permanent role, in Barcelona – Spain (40 working hours per week)

Hybrid working model, 2-3 days per week from our Office, near Sagrada Familia, central region in the city.
