Job Description

Animal Health IT Advanced Analytics team is looking for a data scientist with a strong background in mathematics and statistics to join our team. Our team supports Animal Health across all business areas: research and development, manufacturing, supply chain, commercial and finance. You will have a chance to apply and sharpen data science skills solving a diverse set of business challenges offering a fast growth and learning from senior colleagues. This role allows you to work on impactful projects and collaborate with divisional data scientists, building a community that learns, challenges, and inspires each other. Our team is shaping the Animal Health Data Science and AI strategy, serves as a data science and AI community facilitator and helps non-technical colleagues to mature their understanding of data science.

Primary job responsibilities include:

Selecting appropriate analytical techniques and algorithms to solve business challenges

Participating in selecting appropriate tools and infrastructure for data science projects

Development of the SW code (good quality, documented, and reusable) to execute data science algorithms

Providing precise and timely communication (both verbal and written) & collaboration with diverse stakeholders

Understanding the business context of the decisions to be supported

Building mathematical, statistical, and machine learning models using the available data

Use of R and python to design and develop analytical models and data science products using advanced techniques such as simulations, optimizations, machine learning

Assessing the output of analytical solutions and using the data to draw conclusions, identify options, and make recommendations

Interpreting the results and consulting business stakeholders on options/recommendations

Building and maintaining knowledge of the data sources, the data quality, and metadata

Recognizing repeatable situations and suggesting the appropriate level of automation of analytics

Qualifications and Education Minimum Requirement:

MSc Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Physics, Computer Science, or another related field

1-3 years of full-time working experience or PhD graduate

Desired Experience and Skills:

Passion for maths and algorithms

Experience with simulations, synthetic data, and building digital twins would be a big advantage

Passion for good quality code

Experience with version control systems such as git and collaboration tools

Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to make high-level presentations to senior executives

The ability to formulate models, analyse them, and program and run in some appropriate system (R and python)

Experience and/or ability to quickly learn high-performance computing

Extensive knowledge in one or more of the following areas: simulations, synthetic data, digital twins, mathematical analysis, modelling, probability, stochastic processes, econometrics, machine learning, and optimization

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to work with incomplete or imperfect data, including the ability to interpret and use the analytics results within the real business context

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a globally dispersed team
