As a Data Scientist Director at JP Morgan Chase within the Chief Data & Analytics Office (CDAO) team, you will develop insights and tracking mechanisms to support the execution of our Firmwide Data Strategy. You will work across various systems and functions to identify necessary data, design analyses, and synthesize insights to inform senior leadership. Your role involves collaborating with platform partners to design observability and build instrumentation to fill data gaps. You will be part of a team that promotes decision-making through insight, applying statistical rigor and advanced data science methods.

Job Responsibilities:

Develop a thorough understanding of complex business problems and processes related to our data strategy.Collaborate with business partners to understand their systems and processes.Lead tasks throughout the model development process, including data wrangling, analysis, model training, testing, and selection.Generate structured insights from data analysis and modeling exercises about critical strategic initiatives.Provide mentorship and oversight for junior data scientists to foster a collaborative working culture.Partner with machine learning engineers to deploy machine learning solutions.Own key model maintenance tasks and lead remediation actions as needed.Stay informed about the latest trends in AI/ML/LLM/GenAI research and operate with a continuous-improvement mindset.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

Advanced degree (MS, PhD) in a quantitative field or equivalent experience.8+ years of relevant experience in data analysis and AI/ML domain.Expertise in ML projects, both supervised and unsupervised.Strong programming skills with Python, R, or equivalent languages.Proficient in working with large datasets and handling complex data issues.Experience with analytical toolkits such as SQL, Spark, Scikit-Learn, XGBoost, graph analytics, and neural nets.Excellent solution ideation, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

Experience managing a team of data scientists.Familiarity with machine learning engineering and implementing models within AWS or other cloud platforms.Familiarity with the financial services industry.Experience building or managing datasets for telemetry and observability of analytic and data systems.
