Data Scientist II, Financial Insights and Direction
The Financial Insights and Direction (FInD) team within EU FP&A is seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our dynamic group. We are responsible for developing sophisticated algorithms and models that leverage large amounts of financial data to drive strategic decision-making across the organization.

As a Data Scientist on our team, you will play a crucial role in forecasting Amazon's financial performance, optimizing inventory and labor planning, and uncovering valuable business insights. Your work will directly impact hundreds of millions of dollars in inventory and operational costs.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Continuously innovate through research and the application of the latest machine learning and deep learning techniques to improve the accuracy of our financial forecasts and analyses.
Perform comprehensive exploratory data analysis to identify new business opportunities and develop strategic plans to address them.
Communicate complex findings and recommendations both verbally and in writing to business leaders with varying levels of technical expertise.
Contribute to Amazon's global finance community through collaboration and the publication of groundbreaking research in top-tier journals and conferences.
Utilize advanced analytical tools and programming languages (Python, R, SQL, etc.) to extract insights from large, diverse datasets.

A Day in the Life:
As a Data Scientist on our team, you will leverage your strong analytical skills and deep business acumen to tackle challenging financial problems. This may involve analyzing billions of data points to uncover hidden patterns, developing neural network models to improve forecast accuracy, and clearly communicating your findings to cross-functional partners.

You will work closely with finance, operations, and technical teams to understand business requirements, design innovative solutions, and drive data-driven decision-making. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

2+ years of experience in machine learning, statistical modeling, data mining, and advanced analytics techniques.
2+ years of experience in data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python), or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, MATLAB).
2+ years of experience as a Data Scientist or in a similar analytical role.
Bachelor's degree.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's degree or Ph.D. in a quantitative field.
2+ years of experience implementing deep learning models in a production environment.
Expertise in processing, analyzing, and presenting large, complex datasets (millions to billions of rows).
Strong background in financial forecasting and time series analysis.
Natural curiosity and a desire to learn and innovate.
