Data Scientist Lead

Drive the overall strategy and implementation of the Data Science practice at McLane Company to cultivate the use of advanced analytics and Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence (ML/AI) frameworks that support enterprise andbusiness objectives.

This is a hybrid position which will require the candidate to report and work from the office three days a week. Therefore, interested candidates should be within a 50-minute radius from Temple, TX.

Essential Job Functions:

Lead, manage, and execute complex analytical projects from end-to-end including data discovery, data exploration, data manipulation and validation, synthesis, model building, calibration, maximizing model accuracy and communication of insights and recommendations.Ensure data quality and integrity across various sources.Interpret and analyze complex data problems. Translate problems into actionable recommendations.Conceive, plan, and prioritize data projects. Perform advanced data analysis and data mining to aggregate data from a variety of sources.Design, develop, research ML/AI algorithm and optimization techniques to solve complex business problems.Interpret business opportunity and desired outcomes and create the visualization and communication of results.Build analytic systems and predictive models. Evaluate the performance of data-driven solutions.Experiment with new models and techniques.Align data projects with organizational goals.Mentor and partner with members of team and train new members as required.Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Skills Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in data science, data analytics, or statistics required. 7 years of experience leveraging data science and analytics to solve business problems.Proficiency in mathematical analysis methods, multivariate statistical analyses, predictive modeling, and machine leaning.High sense of curiosity with the ability to quickly adapt to recent technologies, tools, techniques, and comfortable dealing with ambiguity.Preferred experience with packaged solutions for ML/AI, optimization and reporting such as Azure ML, and PowerBI.Experience with open-source Python frameworks and libraries for statistics, ML, and deep learning (pandas, matplotlib, scikit-learn, and statsmodels).
