The University of Virginia's Department of Student Health & Wellness (SHW), a part of the Division of Student Affairs, is seeking Data Solution Developer to join our dynamic team. This multi-faceted position reports to the Assistant Director of Information Technology and collaborates with other team members to devise or modify procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form desired results. In addition, help the team as needed with operational issues, primarily surrounding Power BI reports, but not limited to Power BI reports.
Must have experience using tools such as Visual Studio Code, SQL Server Management Studio, as well as writing complex SQL statements, and experience using T-SQL, Stored Procedures, and Views.Additional areas of focus include Power BI experience creating reports, connecting to data, transforming data, visualizing data, creating dashboards.The primary area of focus includes:
Experience with Power BI Report Server.Develop and code and participate in code review / pull requests, debug and conduct testing.Help maintain the Electronic Health Record [EHR] medical system that has a SQL backend in which data visualizations are augmented with Power BI reporting.Work closely with the EHR vendor and information services staff to ensure design enhancements do not adversely affect data integrity. Help perform scheduled upgrades. Consult with clinical staff to ensure EHR meets their needs.Experience with other common databases and some legacy databases. Work with the team to help gather requirements, contribute to user stories, write acceptance criteria, groom and estimate the level of complexity of work, develop test plans.Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies.In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.Some web development experience preferred, building responsive sites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript (or other scripting language) preferred.Some fundamental familiarity with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) is a bonus. Having used Google Axe (or alike tool(s) is also a bonus.Experience interfacing with APIs.Experience with an object-oriented language a bonus.Basic GitHub experience is a bonus [create branches, make commits, open pull requests, merge code].Experience with Content Management Systems workflows and settings a bonus.Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, Computer Engineering or related experience in this discipline.Experience: Two years preferred. Relevant experience considered in lieu of a degree.Licensure: NoneEmployment Type: This is a nonexempt level, benefited position and 40 hours per week. Hybrid remote, typically 1 day onsite after a brief initial onboarding.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering or related discipline
Experience: At least three years of experience. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
