Summary:
The Material Master Data Specialist is responsible for accurate and detailed part number creation, bill of material and material master maintenance to support the Paper Machine/Stock Prep Spare Parts Department and Engineering as well as E-business and the Supply Chain Management Group. This position also provides additional support to the Digital Solutions Division.
Responsibilities:
Search for and create part numbers in SAP for catalog (vendor) parts, design, and assembly components. Ensure consistency and correctness of part data and formats. Checking of data in material masters and bill of material created by others. Reading and interpreting manufacturing and assembly drawings. Create Bill of Materials for assemblies and manufactured parts including technical research. Identify / decide on the best bill of material format and process for components. Use AS400 BPCS system for cross referencing of old and new parts. Provide technical support to clarify data of material masters for other departments. Provide material master maintenance for lead time, costs, quotes, and various codes. Identify domestic equivalents for foreign material grades for steel, stainless, bronze, castings, etc. Submit obsolete parts for discontinuation with successor. Work with product and material standards (ASTM, ASME, ISO, etc.) Support in training of new hires for engineering and TSS in searching, material master creation and bill of material. Clarify drawing language translations in material master data using an automated translator. Provide support with projects for issues related to material master data. Provide SAP support in general as needed in regards to material masters and bill of material.Requirements:
A minimum of two to three years of experience in the pulp and paper industry or in a manufacturing or engineering environment. A good mechanical aptitude with the ability to read mechanical drawings and manufacturing bills of materials. Ability to operate independent of daily direction, self-starter, i.e. "seeing what needs to be done and doing it." includes working overtime if necessary. Bachelor or Associates degree in industrial, manufacturing or mechanical engineering (or equivalent practical experience). Paper mill experience in maintenance or planning/scheduling is a plus. Experience in an engineering / manufacturing environment is a plus. Experience in a spare part sales/service environment is a plus. Proficient in the use of computers utilizing Windows based programs as well as being able to learn and utilize the SAP and AS400 BPCS operating systems that are necessary for everyday work requirements.
