ResponsibilitiesWe have an opportunity for a Data Specialist to join our Berkley One team! You will be responsible for developing competitive marketplace and pricing analyses that will be foundational to formulating and influencing product, rate and underwriting strategies. You will be eligible to apply for the actuarial student program with us, if desired.

Key functions include but are not limited to:
Assist in analysis of competitive rate plans and filings and identifying best practices in the high net worth space (including niche products within this space); this includes new state launchesEvaluate market competitiveness on an ongoing basis and make recommendations to product management on improvements and adjustmentsParticipate in documenting business requirements for coverage rules and crucial UAT testing of rate plansUtilize demographic data to analyze specific customer segments and geographies to inform current and future product and pricing decisionsCollaborate with product management and actuarial to develop line of business and state specific strategiesWork on state filings and DOI requests to secure timely rate filing approvalsAssist with data calls (reinsurance and regulatory)Collaborate with product management and actuarial teams to continuously identify the newest sources of data for competitive analysisWork on additional projects with cross functional team members that make use of your skills and add direct value to the company (e.g dashboard creation for specific business unit needs, segment analysis, agency support)Other projects and work as assignedQualifications Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or a related quantitative field; will consider candidates with actuarial backgrounds, as well3+ years of insurance industry experience, personal lines preferredAdvanced proficiency with the Excel, proficiency with R, SQL, PowerBI, Looker preferredExperience working with LexisNexis InsurQuote, Quadrant, and Salesforce preferred Passion for math and analytics; you have a degree in math, statistics, actuarial science or economics, love numbers and analytics and have put that passion to work in competitor and/or market data analytics rolesIncredible empathy and understanding of the needs of our customers, both insureds and their agents alike; you will be an excellent, pro-active advocate for Berkley One customers and are passionate about their brand experienceExceptional oral and written communication skills; your communication style is flexible to the situation; you communicate clearly and with a purposeCalm under pressure; you have excellent organizational skills, integrity, and great follow-through on tasks; you are comfortable challenging norms while working collaboratively with colleagues at all levels of the organizationYou have a strong sense of accountability, fun and adventureNatural curiosity; you love learning how things work and you are always looking for innovative improvements Additional Company Details We do not accept any unsolicited resumes from external recruiting firms.
The company offers a competitive compensation plan and robust benefits package for full time regular employees including:
• Base Salary Range: $70,000 - $95,000
• Eligible to participate in annual discretionary bonus
• Benefits include: Health, dental, vision, dental, life, disability, wellness, paid time off, 401(k) and profit-sharing plans
The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
