The primary purpose of the Data Uniformity Specialist position is to review, research, and resolve problems and errors concerning the medical record number, the electronic health record, the paper health record, and University Hospital information system databases. Performs all duties necessary to maintain the integrity of the master patient index (MPI), and of the electronic medical record data. This is done to preserve the integrity of the patient’s medical information, which contributes to increased patient safety.
QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management with national certification (RHIA, RHIT) required. Two (2) years of experience in an HIM department or in the administrative or business area of healthcare. Acute care hospital experience preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrates professionalism, tact, and diplomacy when working with other
hospital departments, medical staff, and outside organizations. Demonstrates excellent critical-thinking skills, sharp problem-solving abilities, and is very detail oriented. Excellent PC application skills (Word, Excel, e-mail, PowerPoint, Adobe - minimum). Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement.
