Overview Goldbelt Professional Services specializes in providing expert resources for Public Health missions including scientific, technical, and administrative support from junior staff to high-level subject matter experts. Research and data driven, Goldbelt Professional Services’ experts create solutions customized to the client’s needs. Summary: The Data Visualization Specialist will provide methods, tools, and qualified resources to design, develop, and deploy visualizations of data and analyses within CDC Center for Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics (CFA) products. Responsibilities Essential Job Functions: Provide static and interactive visualizations such as dashboards, maps and other outputs and/or formats that facilitate their dissemination via presentation, web, and social media channels. The contractor shall use Power BI, Tableau, or PowerPoint visualizations Presentations shall incorporate high quality, innovative displays of data distributions on maps and charts, and comparative data points featured in models and forecasts developed by CFA. Analyze and visualize patterns and trends in public health data, as requested. The dashboards and other outputs reports must be approved by the Government prior to deployment. The Contractor shall ensure that the dashboard and reports include bookmarks/views/etc. where applicable. Conformance to established protocols and best practices with visualizations including but not limited to: Design must ensure usability is maximized and application conforms to Section 508 usability rules (colorblind-friendly, alt-text, color contrast, etc.) Direct labels in all visuals Lowering the reading level of all visuals (i.e., plain language) Maximizing color contrast of visuals Provide graphics and infographics to support communication modeling and forecasting results to the public and other audiences. Develop user friendly dashboards and webpages to display data and analytics for public health practitioners and other audiences, typically maps and charts. Develop communications for different audiences, including strategies to research a variety of audiences using evidence-based approaches for communicating complex quantitative information. Collaborate with existing researchers in the fields of social science and probabilistic risk communication to determine applicability of existing research in related topics (e.g. weather) to infectious-disease public health. This may include the development, testing and evaluation of terminology Images and graphics used to communicate risk of infectious disease-related messages to decision makers, including policy makers, public health professionals, and others making decisions on a population-level Qualifications Necessary Skills and Knowledge: Proficiency in data visualization tools. Strong programming skills. Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex data in a simple, accessible manner. Minimum Qualifications: Masters degree with 6-8 years of related experience OR PhD with 4-6 years of related experience. Experience working with large datasets and public health or epidemiological data. Ability to pass a background check. Preferred Qualifications: Any related certifications.
