The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of Oracle databases within the Ellucian Banner ERP system. This role requires a combination of technical expertise and strong organizational and time management skills to ensure optimal database performance, security, and availability. The DBA will serve as a key technical resource, providing support for both Ellucian Banner applications and the underlying database infrastructure.

The DBA will collaborate closely with the Lead DBA and the Banner team to support a diverse range of applications from the Ellucian suite of products as well as other 3rd party products. They will work directly with functional stakeholders to optimize and upgrade these applications, ensuring they meet evolving business needs. Additionally, the DBA will provide support to our BI and Analytics teams, enabling data-driven decision-making.

Duties and Responsibilities: Database Design and Implementation: Maintain Oracle based database systems, primarily related to the Ellucian Banner ERP and related products Serve as a technical expert for troubleshooting issues and problem resolution escalating functional, technical, and organizational issues where appropriate Create and maintain database documentation, including those for, standards, and policies.


Database Administration and Maintenance: Perform routine database administration tasks, such as backups, restores, patches and security updates. Monitor and maintain the day-to-day operations of the Banner ERP and related application performance and health, identifying and resolving issues proactively Manage user access and permissions, ensuring data security and integrity.
Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Provide technical support for Ellucian Banner applications and database-related issue Collaborate with stakeholders, developers and operations teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues. Diagnose and resolve database performance problems, ERP application issues, and other technical difficulties. Perform other duties and assist with projects as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Formal Education Bachelor’s degree

Work Experience Minimum 3 years of related database administration and application infrastructure experience Experience with Ellucian Banner products and Oracle databases. Experience with projects involving multiple technologies and functions. Work Skills (e.g., written and verbal communication skills) Must be able to work independently, as well as in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment. Possesses interpersonal and communications skills to work with technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization and can speak about technology through the lens of the functional area and in terms appropriate for the audience Possesses excellent organizational and technical skills to diagnose problems in an environment with constantly changing priorities. Knowledge of related security best practices Specific Job Knowledge (e.g., knowledge of principles and procedures related to field and area)Competence with Linux, SQL, and PL/SQL Preferred Qualifications: Formal Education Master’s degree
