Database Administrator
Job Description Job Purpose As a Senior Database Administrator, you will be part of the Global Data Services team with accountability for designing, testing, implementing and maintaining the organization’s databases across multiple platforms, technologies (e.g., relational, non-relational and warehousing) and computing environments (e.g., host based, distributed systems, client server). The role requires the ability to apply comprehensive functional and technical knowledge in a team setting for problem resolution, design and engineering decisions and system architecture planning. Responsibilities Conduct database administrative work to support for production systems Installing and upgrading database software and resolving database software problems Performing evaluations of potential tools and utilities Automating database tasks via scripting or through the use of tools Updating, migrating, and refreshing database environments Configuring monitoring and proactively reviewing statistics for errors, capacity and performance issues Provide support for Development, QA teams and systems Design, architect, plan database solutions to meet the business need Design and implement disaster recovery solutions for critical systems Implement improvements to process and code used for automating maintenance and operational tasks in various systems using programming languages such as PL/SQL, PERL, shell, Python, etc. Identify opportunities to fine-tune and optimize database systems and applications Ensure database recoverability within the constraints of any application, project and other requirements Knowledge and Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field 5+ years of experience in the design, maintenance and administration of relational databases In depth knowledge of ASM and Grid Infrastructure Experience with Core Oracle Admin, RAC, MAA, Data guard, etc. Experience with SQL and PL/SQL coding skill Experience working in a Unix/Linux environment with understanding of Kernel and OS tuning Experience with performance and troubleshooting using tools or techniques such as OEM Grid Control Tuning Advisor, AWR, Statspack, TKPROF, Sql Trace, SQL Profile, SPM, Trace Events, Waits & Latches Proficient in Shell Scripting, Perl DBI/DBD or JDBC Strong proficiency to solve problems Ability to independently complete projects with minimal guidance Proven success in creating complete infrastructure to maintain a large server farm Ability to work an on-call schedule, after hours and weekends as needed Ability to learn new technology with a willingness to teach Experience with Exadata is preferred. Having knowledge or experience on rdbms technologies like PostgreSQL and MySQL. Having Knowledge or experience on NoSQL technologies like MongoDB, Cassandra is desirable. Having Knowledge on messaging system like Apache Kafka is desirable. Schedule This role offers work from home flexibility of one day per week.
