We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator to manage and maintain our database systems, within the Service Data Centre, ensuring their performance, security, and availability. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of database design and optimisation techniques, with experience in various database technologies. This role is crucial for supporting our data-driven initiatives and ensuring that our databases operate efficiently.

What you will be doing
 

The Database Administrator (DBA) will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimising the departments database systems, ensuring they operate efficiently, securely, and are highly available. The DBA will collaborate with our IT and development teams to design, implement, and maintain databases that support the departments/business operational needs. This role is essential for improving database performance, safeguarding data integrity, and implementing solutions for scalability and disaster recovery. The DBA will also play a key role in optimising SQL code, maintaining data security, and supporting compliance with the company’s data protection regulations.

Manage, monitor, and maintain database systems to ensure optimal performance and high availability.Design and implement database structures, schema, and storage solutions in collaboration with the departments development teams.Plan and execute database backup and recovery procedures, regularly testing them to ensure data integrity.Perform regular performance tuning, query optimisation, and index maintenance to improve database efficiency.Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in a timely and efficient manner.Ensure compliance with security policies and manage access control for sensitive information.Collaborate with the development teams to design and review efficient database solutions, including code reviews for SQL queries and stored procedures.Create, maintain, and update database documentation, including disaster recovery plans and operational procedures.Stay up to date with database technologies, best practices, and emerging trends to continuously improve the departments database infrastructure..
