Position overview

AWS Cloud DBA Admin Advisor with a strong background in database management, cloud infrastructure, automation, and performance monitoring.

 The Cloud Database Administrator will collaborate with a fast-paced global leader in IT Services, ensuring that our client’s database and cloud-related issues are swiftly and efficiently resolved. As part of our Cloud Database team, you will be responsible for steady-state support of the customer's database environments, managing incidents, service requests, problem records, and tasks associated with that support. Additionally, you will design and implement new database solutions, including optimization and scaling, to enhance performance and ensure data integrity within our client’s cloud infrastructure.

 

Position's General Duties and Tasks:

Candidates must be able to carry out complex database support duties including:

Manage and optimize Redshift, MySQL and PostgreSQL databases in AWS cloud environments while leveraging Python, and Datadog for automation and monitoring. Implement robust backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability strategies. Use Terraform to automate database provisioning, scaling, and configuration. Develop Python scripts for automation of database tasks, such as backups, monitoring, and scaling. Implement infrastructure changes using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) with Terraform. Monitor database health and performance using Datadog and AWS CloudWatch. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimizing queries and resource usage. Enforce database security best practices, including encryption, access control, and auditing. Work closely with development and operations teams to provide guidance on database best practices and AWS cloud optimization. Mentor DBAs in automation, monitoring, and cloud management on Redshift.

 

Qualification and Skills:

8-10 years of IT industry experience. 5+ years of experience with AWS Redshift database administration. 3+ years of experience in AWS RDS MySQL and PostgreSQL. Proficiency with Terraform for Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and AWS cloud management. Knowledge of Datadog for performance monitoring and troubleshooting. Expertise in Python for automation and scripting. Good written and spoken English knowledge

 

Work Timings:

Primarily US business hours (CST time zone) but willing to work in a rotational shift in 24x7 support model when required.
