Currently, we are seeking a Database Administrator or Database Engineer with at least 6 years of experience, based in Carlsbad CA. Responsibilities Database administration and maintenance of our primary databases (MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL)Management of our legacy databases (MySQL)Manage both AWS RDS DBs or databases running on AWS EC2sPerformance tuning of MS SQL database and best practice implementation on all databasesDevelop backup procedures for daily execution by IT/DevOpsConduct "Health check" of the database regularlyTroubleshoot and support existing database processes; deliver fixes and optimizations where appropriateAnalyze, tune and document schema and queriesMonitor for database exceptionsManage any database schema evolutions requiredDevelop archiving scripts to prune live dataDevelop ETL environment for data miningArchitect, design, configure and deploy next generation of the database systemReview and manage AWS RDS spend Qualifications
Must Haves
6 years of Database Administration and/or Engineering experienceProficiency with MS SQL Server, PostgreSQLExperience with cloud-based environments/databases (AWS, Azure, etc.)Experience with database performance tuning (including SQL and query tuning)Excellent SQL skillsProficient in managing and creating ETL jobsProficiency in both Linux and Windows environmentsDatabase server, storage & network systems lifecycle administrationDatabase clustering architecture & administrationScripting alerts and controls for DB system monitoring agentsSolid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)Ability to provide high confidence estimate for design change or solution implementationExcellent written and oral communication skillsTechnical Bachelor's degree (Information Systems, Computer Science, or similar)Strong Pluses
