**Where you’ll work:**
This is a hybrid onsite/remote opportunity where you will report to the customer location in Falls Church, VA and have the flexibility to work from home based on business needs.
**An average day:**
As Database Architect I, you will focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining foundational data solutions that support an organization’s data infrastructure. This position will assist in optimizing system performance, managing data tables across multiple environments, and working with various teams to ensure high-quality data and secure access. In this position you will:
+ Contribute to the design and maintenance of data tables across bronze, silver, and gold layers
+ Assist with performance tuning and query optimization under guidance from senior team members
+ Work on basic database schema design to support both current and future project needs
+ Participate in drafting and updating documentation related to data definitions and standards
+ Support data productization and AI/ML initiatives by preparing data sets as directed
+ Help automate repetitive tasks and support continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes
+ Collaborate with security teams to maintain access controls and permissions
+ Contribute to data governance efforts by adhering to established policies and best practices
+ Participate in testing procedures, including automated unit and integration tests
+ Take part in ongoing training and knowledge-sharing sessions with more experienced architects
+ Assist in Data Migration and Integration Efforts – Support the transition of data between systems by helping with Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes and ensuring data consistency across different platforms.
+ Monitor and Troubleshoot Database Performance Issues – Identify potential bottlenecks, perform root cause analysis, and work with senior architects to implement solutions that enhance database reliability and efficiency.
+ Support Compliance and Regulatory Requirements – Ensure database structures and data management practices align with industry regulations (by assisting in audits and implementing necessary compliance measures.
**Basic Qualifications:**
+ As a requirement of this position, all candidates must be a U.S. Citizen. In accordance with 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(2)(C) , Epsilon will not consider candidates for this position who do not meet the aforementioned conditions.
+ Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience in database design and development
+ DOD 8570 IAT Level II Certification may be required (GSEC, GICSP, CND, CySA+, Security+ CE, SSCP or CCNA-Security).
+ Familiarity with popular relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server)
+ Basic understanding of ETL processes and tools (e.g., Talend, Informatica, or similar)
+ Exposure to cloud-based data services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, or Google Cloud SQL)
+ Understanding of fundamental networking concepts and security principles
+ Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) for collaborative development
+ Basic knowledge of scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL scripting)
+ Willingness to learn about data governance standards and compliance requirements
+ Exposure to data modeling techniques and methodologies
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective team collaboration
+ One or more of the following certifications are desired: AWS Certified Developer, Databricks, Agile/Scrum, Python Programmer
**Other:**
+ Must hold an Active DOD Secret, Top Secret or TS/SCI Clearance
+ Must be located within a two (2) hour commute of the physical work location
