Database Designer
Position Description:

CGI is seeking a Senior Database Designer to support a large financial system modernization project for a federal agency. This person will be responsible for database security and data infrastructure upgrades in an Agile and DevSecOps environment.

This position can be located remotely anywhere in the U.S.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Monitor database operations and system performance metrics to identify potential risks/issues.
• Respond to performance and outage alerts.
• Ensure database backup and recovery jobs are in place.
• Manage database user access and security.
• Ensure database access controls support protecting the data.
• Optimize application SQL queries and database for faster performance and high availability.
• Write and deploy SQL DML and DDL script to support application patches and deployments.
• Proactively and regularly make recommendations for system improvements.
• Collate, prepare, and present statistical information for internal and external use.
• Provide database guidance and support to project team.
• Assist with schema design, code review, SQL query tuning.
• Strong understanding of the full lifecycle (SDLC) with Agile/Scrum experience.
• Proven ability to work independently, and as a team member.

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related information technology field.
• 10 + years of experience in administering, managing and tuning databases.
• 5+ years of experience with Oracle, MS SQL or Postgres DBMS
• Hands-on experience with ETL tools and ETL process implementation.
• 3+ years of experience with managing RDS in AWS and/or Aurora.
• 7+ years of experience with data modeling.
• 5+ years of experience with Stored Procedures, Triggers Development.
• 3+ years of AWS, Azure, Google or Oracle Experience.
• 7+ years of experience writing in SQL.
• Certifications: Sec+ or CASP+
• Experience as a database developer to assist development teams.
• Experience with implementing and using Liquibase to manage database changes.
• Good understanding of data and schema standards and concepts.
• Good understanding of database design, implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Experience working in an Agile environment.
• Proven ability to clearly communicate requirements to other development team members.
• Manage changes to requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
• Communicate effectively (verbal and written) and clearly within the team and with all the stakeholders.
• Experience in Agile methods
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with team members, customers and support personnel.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.

Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required:
• Experience with at least one other relational database including Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres or Oracle.
• Ability to solve complex business process problems
• Proven ability to develop and maintain system documentation.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
• Experience with AWS/Azure Cloud implementations.
• Experience with system modernization management.
• Experience supporting a Department of Defense (DOD) client.
CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and license and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $85,800.00 - $190,100.00.
