Database Specialist

Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Database Specialist to join our team! In this role you will perform database management, data integration, and data security, with a focus on ensuring smooth access and flow of information for project teams. The Database Specialist will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that all project data is efficiently stored, maintained, and easily accessible.

What You'll Be Doing:

Part of a team managing a program of works

Tender reviews

Design, implement, and maintain databases tailored to the needs of the construction project, ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval.

Develop custom solutions for data management and reporting related to construction progress, cost tracking, procurement, and scheduling.

Integrate various sources of project data (e.g., cost control, procurement, scheduling software, document management systems) into a centralized database to ensure consistency and accuracy.

Regularly monitor and update the project database, ensuring that all data is accurate, up-to-date, and properly structured.

Implement and enforce database security protocols to ensure sensitive project information is protected.

Provide training and support to project staff in using database systems, ensuring they can efficiently input, access, and retrieve project data.

Work closely with other project control functions, such as cost control, planning, and procurement, to ensure seamless data flow and integration.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Proven 10 years experience as a Database Specialist or in a similar role, preferably in the construction or engineering industry.

Strong proficiency in database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) and database design concepts.

Experience with data integration tools and techniques, and the ability to work with different software and applications.

Solid understanding of database security, backup, and recovery procedures.

Strong skills in SQL and other query languages for data extraction and analysis.

Experience with project management software and systems (e.g., Primavera P6, Procore, Viewpoint) is an advantage.


What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for reporting and data analysis.

Knowledge of construction project management processes and terminology.

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Strong communication skills to liaise with project teams, IT staff, and management.
