Job Overview: As a Data Engineer Architect, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining the data architecture and infrastructure of an organization. You will lead a team of data engineers, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure that data solutions meet the business's needs. This role requires a deep understanding of data engineering principles, and strong technical skills in Databricks.
Responsibilities:
Data Architecture Design: Develop and maintain a robust data architecture strategy that aligns with the organization's business goals. Design scalable, efficient, and flexible data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes.
Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, providing guidance, coaching, and technical expertise to ensure the successful execution of data projects.
Data Pipeline Development: Design and implement data pipelines for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes. Ensure data quality, reliability, and timeliness.
Data Integration: Part of data integration efforts, ensuring seamless data flow between different systems and sources. Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to define data integration requirements.
Data Modeling: Define and implement data models that support analytical and reporting needs. Optimize data structures for query performance and storage efficiency.
Database Management: Manage and optimize databases, both relational and NoSQL, for performance, scalability, and security.
Big Data Technologies: Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in the data engineering and big data space. Evaluate and implement new tools and frameworks as needed.
Data Security and Compliance: Implement data security best practices and ensure compliance with relevant data regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA). Maintain data privacy and security standards.
Performance Optimization: Monitor system performance and take proactive measures to optimize data processing and reduce bottlenecks.
Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for data architecture, data flows, and ETL processes. Ensure knowledge transfer within the team.
Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, software engineers, and business stakeholders, to understand their data needs and deliver solutions accordingly.
Success Profile:
You have a demonstrated track record of leading strategic engagements within new and existing Retail accounts for pure-play analytics services, while consistently achieving or exceeding quarterly and annual goals.
You have strong commercial acumen that you can execute to manage and grow revenue, and work with purchase as well business.
You are an effective and credible storyteller with a strong ability to map client challenges to internal capabilities, regardless of competency, and can link those conversations back to business outcomes.
You have excellent written, verbal, and formal presentation skills allowing you to engage client audiences ranging from technical implementers up through Business and Technology C levels.
You thrive in a collaborative team atmosphere while defining issues/hypotheses, performing complex analysis, and assisting with the preparation and recommendations of solution alternatives.
You have demonstrated experience of leading large teams located globally, and are seen as a natural people leader, while effectively managing account growth goals.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
Must have 4+ hands-on Databricks and Snowflake
Proven experience in data engineering and architecture, with at least 7+ of experience.
Proficiency in programming languages such as PySpark, Python, Java, or Scala.
Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts, ETL processes, and data modeling.
Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and NoSQL databases.
Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
Knowledge of data governance, data security, and compliance regulations.
Project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Pay:
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Fractal, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is: $100,000 - $135,000. In addition, for the current performance period, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.

As a full-time employee of the company or as an hourly employee working more than 30 hours per week, you will be eligible to participate in the health, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability plans in accordance with the plan documents, which may be amended from time to time. You will be eligible for benefits on the first day of employment with the Company. In addition, you are eligible to participate in the Company 401(k) Plan after 30 days of employment, in accordance with the applicable plan terms. The Company provides for 11 paid holidays and 12 weeks of Parental Leave. We also follow a “free time” PTO policy, allowing you the flexibility to take time needed for either sick time or vacation.
