In the role of Databricks Platform Architect (f/m/d), you will own the architecture of the Databricks-based Data and AI Platform at Allianz Global Investors. Your main responsibility will be to develop and evolve the platform architecture based on requirements and drive the implementation in line with the priorities and timelines defined by the Databricks Platform Owner.
Your tasks will include making holistic decisions around the platform architecture and capabilities, considering both functional and non-functional requirements as well as the evolution of features provided by the vendor.
You will provide guidance and L3 support to development teams, ensuring adherence to architectural guidelines and best practices. Additionally, you will conduct periodic reviews and assessments to identify areas for architectural improvement and recommend necessary adjustments.
This position will be based in Frankfurt.
What you will do
• Develop a holistic target solution architecture, capabilities (people, process, technology), and standards for the Databricks-based Data Platform, in line with functional and non-functional business and IT requirements, best practices, and vendor roadmaps
• Maintain and evolve the current Data Platform architecture towards the target architecture by defining holistic roadmaps and implementation plans
• Support the implementation of the target solution architecture hands-on, e.g., through the development of Terraform templates, modules, and code as well as scripts, reports, interfaces, etc., in collaboration with the DevOps and SecOps resources of the Data Platform Team
• Ensure holistic security and compliance of the Data Platform architecture with regulatory, Allianz group, and AllianzGI requirements
• Maintain and evolve the architecture documentation and ensure adherence to all processes and standards
• Act as an L3 support resource in the Data Platform Team
• Consult with and support platform customers in the design and implementation of use case-specific solutions on the Data Platform
What you bring
Required
• Minimum 5 years of experience managing Databricks Data Intelligence Platforms, preferably implemented on Azure
• Minimum 5 years of experience as an IT architect
• Diploma in computer science or a similar field
• Multiple years of working experience in the financial industry, preferably in asset management
• Multiple years of experience with the development and implementation of secure and compliant architectures
• Expert-level technology skills in Databricks, Azure, Terraform, Spark, Python, SQL, and CI/CD
• Very good understanding of Data Architecture and Data Engineering
• Excellent analytical, planning, and organizational skills
• Good oral and written communication skills in English
Preferred
• Practical experience with Machine Learning and AI
• International work experience
