Role Summary:

The Datacenter Engineer is responsible for the planning, engineering, implementation, administration, and support Backup and Recovery and disaster recovery infrastructure for Gesa Credit Union. In addition, they will ensure all systems are sufficient, functioning properly, secure, maintained, and support the mission and goals of the credit union. Additional responsibilities include oversight of the installation of service packs, patches, updates and upgrades; working with vendors, departments, or end users in configuring software to meet the various requirements.

 

What You Will Be Doing: Actively participate in the design and architectural decisions for backup, recovery, and storage options in a cloud and on-prem environment. Design, implement, and manage storage and backup solutions for both cloud and on-prem environments. Work with teams to implement system changes: Firmware/Hardware compatibility bundles, Latest support Hypervisor versions, understanding of Storage Solutions, and Cloud Storage Solutions. Ensure all hardware and software components, comply with security guidelines. Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of storage and backup solutions with other infrastructure components. Experience with, and understanding of On-Prem Storage Arrays, hyper-converged, VSAN, IP storage or similar product offerings, and cloud storage solutions to offload on-prem storage footprint. Responsible for designing, maintaining and implementing backup system(s). Ensure optimal performance by monitoring storage health and maintaining data fragmentation.  Perform routine maintenance as required and ensure data replication is successful. Ensure upgrades, updates, and patches are planned, tested, and completed, maintaining compliance with vendor requirements, standards, and control procedures. Anticipate growth and future capacity requirements and make recommendations to increase capacity as required. Help develop, test, and refine storage and backup strategies to ensure alignment with the organization’s Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity Plan (BCP) requirements. Assist with coordination of testing of the DR/BCP plan as needed. Assists remote branches with server hardware replacements and configuration. Participate in multiple projects simultaneously, developing milestones, and deadlines in coordination with the broader company goals. Participate in vetting new storage solutions and providing feedback to vendors.

 

About You: Expertise in design, implementation, and management of compute virtualization technologies – VMWare, AWS, GCP, and/or Azure. Expertise in the design and implantation of a virtual data center in AWS, GCP, or Azure including technologies supporting Backup/Restore, data protection, Networks, VPCs, Security, DNS, VPN, Storage, Persistent storage technologies, Transport and Data structures Enterprise-class experience designing and implementing highly available infrastructure solutions: VMWare, DELL/EMC, Zerto, Pure, NetApp. In-depth knowledge of Virtualized cloud products: VMWare Cloud, Storage Solutions, AWS File Gateway, AWS Backup, AWS, CloudWatch Experience and knowledge of multiple hypervisors and virtualization technologies: VMWare, Hyper-V Exceptional knowledge of Microsoft Windows O/S’s, networking, TCP/IP, DHCP, WINS, DNS, VmWare and Microsoft Active Directory, including group policies and Exchange strongly desired. Knowledge of multiple cloud technologies. (Azure, AWS, GCP) Experience with storage provisioning for VMware and/or other hypervisors Experience supporting environments providing high availability and disaster recovery Knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems. Strong Analytical, Technical writing and problem solving skills. Knowledge of the Financial Industry is desirable. Organizational skills and the ability to build/set schedules and adhere to project deadlines. Excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent listening skills and customer service attributes and the ability to work cohesively and successfully in a team environment. Experience with backup and recovery software, such as Commvault, Veeam, NetBackup, Rubrik or similar solutions. Strong knowledge of storage and backup technologies, such as SAN, NAS, DAS, tape libraries, and cloud storage.
