Day Shift Whey Plant Machine Operator I -Bagger
Job Overview

The Whey Bagger/Warehouse Relief organizes and stores product to meet customer specifications in compliance with company policy related to GMPs and Safety.  The Bagger is responsible for weighing, sealing, and palletizing of 50 lb bags, 2050 lb bulk bags or 25 kg bags of whey powder.

Job Responsibilities

• Understand the basic operation of automatic bagger, robotic palletizer and bulk bagger.
• Correct weight adjustments to produce correct weight whey powder per bag.
• Properly seal bags.
• Check accuracy of scales.
• Check accuracy of metal detectors.
• Maintain correct and accurate records of lot tracking system.
• Maintain a sanitary sampling technique of whey powder which is to be performed on every pallet produced.
• Maintain general housekeeping of work area.
• Maintain observations of product and report any defects to operator and/or supervisor.
• Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of whey bagging equipment during the wash cycle.
• Transport finished pallets to storage areas.
• Verify accurate counts of raw and finished products and supplies.
• Organize and store finished products.
• Maintain accurate records and paperwork.
• Load and unload trucks per bills of lading.
• Operate all warehouse equipment (tow motor/hand jack) in safe manner.
• Put finished products into storage.
• Change and maintain batteries; fill out documentation.
• Perform cycle counts.
• Maintain proper rotation of raw materials/packaging/finished goods per FIFO.
• Productive use of down time.
• Communicate to supervisor regarding product shipment and special orders.
• Stage customer orders in organized manner on shipping dock.
• All GLC employees are expected to perform any assignment or job task according to the stated safety policies and procedures.

• Other responsibilities as assigned by the manager. 

The pay for this position is $22.90- $23.45. All offers will be based on a candidate’s skills, prior relevant experience, applicable degrees and certifications, and internal equity. This range is specific to New York and may not be applicable to other locations.

Required Education and Experience

• Basic computer skills required.
• Ability to ascend/descend stairs.

Preferred Education and Experience High School diploma or GED. Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and related equipment.  Ability to make minor decisions based on standard practices.   Basic math skills to adjust process changes. SAP experience.

 

Working Conditions • Ability to constantly stand/walk; bend/flex/extend neck; frequently grip/reach/lift/pull with L/R hands.• Ability to frequently handle material from floor-to-waist, waist-to-shoulder and pushing/pulling/carrying.• Hair nets, ear plugs/muffs, hardhats, and/or safety glasses may be required.• Product weight: up to 100 lbs• Repetitive work in a fast-paced production environment with average temperature of 50-60 degrees F.EEOC & Disclaimer Great Lakes Cheese is an Equal Opportunity Affirmative Action Employer.
