Job Title: DBA Analyst – Mainframe Modernization (Fully Remote) Location: Remote Clearance: Must be a US Project Focus: Mainframe Modernization Databases: Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase, CICS Languages: COBOL, ALC, Java, C++ Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced DBA Analyst to support our mainframe modernization project by managing, modernizing, and migrating databases from hierarchical to relational systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase, and CICS databases, as well as working knowledge of legacy systems using COBOL, ALC, and integration with modern languages like Java and C++. This fully remote role will involve optimizing database performance, migrating systems, and leveraging stored procedures for seamless data integration. Key Responsibilities: + Database Modernization & Migration: + Lead efforts in migrating legacy hierarchical databases to relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase). + Perform data mapping, transformation, and migration to ensure data integrity and consistency. + Database Administration: + Install, configure, monitor, and maintain relational databases. + Develop and optimize stored procedures, queries, and database functions for performance and scalability. + Manage CICS databases, ensuring compatibility and integration during modernization. + Analysis and Optimization: + Analyze existing database schemas in mainframe environments and provide solutions for migration and optimization. + Perform performance tuning and troubleshooting to resolve bottlenecks and ensure high availability. + Collaboration & Documentation: + Work closely with development teams to support COBOL, ALC, Java, and C++-based applications interacting with databases. + Document database designs, migration strategies, and stored procedures. + Support QA teams with data preparation for testing environments. + Integration with Modern Systems: + Ensure smooth integration between modernized relational databases and updated application layers. + Assist in transitioning legacy systems into scalable, cloud-ready database solutions, if applicable. Qualifications: + Required Experience: + 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator (DBA) or Database Analyst. + Experience migrating hierarchical databases to relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase). + Proficiency in developing and optimizing stored procedures. + Understanding of legacy mainframe environments with databases interacting via CICS and COBOL/ALC. + Familiarity with database design for Java and C++ applications. + Technical Skills: + Strong experience with Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase, and CICS databases. + Proficiency in SQL scripting, data transformation, and performance optimization. + Solid understanding of SDLC and database migration methodologies. + Soft Skills: + Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. + Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
