Description

Job Overview: Installs, monitors, and maintains production database while ensuring high levels of data availability. Ensures the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software by developing, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures. Coordinate and assist other IT teams in the design, development, and enforcement of security standards that align to MICS with respective areas of responsibility. Provide guidance and direction for the protection of information systems assets to the IT management team.

Job Duties:

Designs and implements redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery

and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets.

Assesses and develops long-term strategic goals for production databases in conjunction with data owners and department managers. Assists with the implementation of new databases ensuring that standards, policies, and procedures are met or exceeded. Patches, upgrades, proactive/reactive maintenance, supporting the app dev team (performance tuning, SQL dev), war rooms, and incident restoration. Provide Level 3 support for 24x7 business operations including on-call. Tune performance and resolve availability issues of product or service and its dependencies. Develops, documents, and performs tasks needed to integrate new technologies into existing database environments in coordination with senior Team members. Manage all database instances across development, staging, and production environments, handling installation, configuration, and maintenance. Skilled in establishing a mechanism to harden the database environment conforming to Center for Internet Security standards. Plans and coordinates data migrations between systems. Researches and makes recommendations on database products, services, protocols, and standards. Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes. Perform technical tasks using both standard and non-standard analysis, design, programming methods, and relational database management techniques. Perform Database backup/recovery - Optimizing stored procedures, and indexing. Optimize database performance using advanced techniques. Familiar with SQL reporting services including creating, modifying, and managing custom reports.

Qualifications

Knowledge of SQL reporting services including creating, modifying, and managing custom reports.
