Key Responsibilities: + Database Management: Administer, maintain, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server databases to ensure high performance and reliability. + Performance Tuning: Monitor and troubleshoot database performance, optimizing query execution and database architecture. + Backups & Recovery: Implement and manage backup, restore, and recovery processes, ensuring data integrity and compliance with recovery objectives. + Database Security: Ensure SQL Server databases are secure, adhering to encryption and access control best practices. + Continual Learning & Adaptability: Stay current with the latest SQL Server features and evolving cloud technologies to support both on-premises and cloud environments. Proactively expand your skill set to align with the organization’s growing use of cloud platforms, including AWS and other emerging technologies. + Capacity Planning: Analyze database storage needs, plan for growth, and ensure scalability. + Database Design & Development: Collaborate with development teams to design database structures, stored procedures, and queries. + Automation & Scripting: Automate tasks such as backups, replication, maintenance, and monitoring using PowerShell or other scripting tools. + High Availability & Replication: Implement and maintain SQL Server high-availability solutions (AlwaysOn, clustering, and replication). + Documentation: Maintain documentation for database configurations, procedures, and policies. + Incident Management: Provide timely database support during outages, performance degradation, or production issues. + Collaboration: Work closely with network administrators, developers, and other IT teams to ensure seamless integration and system compatibility. Requirements: + Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience). + Experience: + + 3-5 years of database administration experience with a focus on Microsoft SQL Server . + Strong experience with SQL Server performance tuning , query optimization, and high availability. + Technical Skills: + + Expertise in SQL Server (2016 and later) . + Proficiency in T-SQL for writing queries, stored procedures, and optimizing performance. + Experience with high availability techniques such as clustering, replication, and AlwaysOn. + Experience in database backups, recovery, and disaster recovery processes. + Familiarity with database monitoring and diagnostic tools. + Scripting skills for automating routine tasks (PowerShell, Python, Bash). + Problem-Solving: Strong diagnostic skills for resolving complex database issues. + Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. + Certifications: Certifications such as AWS Certified Database – Specialty and Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate , or equivalent, are a plus. Preferred Qualifications: + Experience with AWS RDS or other cloud-based database solutions. + Exposure to other database technologies like MongoDB, Cassandra, PostgreSQL or MySQL is a plus. + Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines. Experience with database encryption and data masking techniques.
