Overview

The Database Systems Manager is a highly responsible, technical and administrative database position managing a large scale environment, supporting all environment builds, capacity planning, installations, configurations, cluster setup, performance tuning and ongoing monitoring.  Work also involves providing consulting to multiple development teams on analysis, design, development, and performance tuning issues in a proactive manner - driving improvements in reliability and optimization to the database and application services. This position will support Microsoft SQL environments, but MongoDB experience is also required.  Experience with MySQL and cloud hosted databases would be a plus. The successful candidate will have a player / coach mentality – ready to lead the team, but ready to roll up the sleeves when required.

Responsibilities Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of database systems and infrastructure.Lead a team of database administrators and systems engineers to ensure optimal performance and reliability.Develop and enforce database policies and procedures to ensure data integrity and security.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate database systems with other enterprise systems.Manage database capacity planning, maintenance, backup, and recovery processes.Monitor and optimize database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions.Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in database management and systems administration.Prepare and present reports on database performance, capacity, and project status to senior management. Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 7 years of experience in database management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.Proven experience in systems administration, including servers, storage, and networking.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in MSSQL, Oracle, and MongoDB databases.Experience with database design, performance tuning, and security best practices.Strong understanding of systems architecture and lifecycle management.

Leadership Abilities:

Proven track record of managing and mentoring a team of technical professionals.

Problem-Solving:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex database and systems issues.

Communication:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Project Management:

Demonstrated experience in managing database projects, from inception to completion.

Certifications:

Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, Oracle Database Administrator Certified Professional, or MongoDB Certified DBA are a plus. What do we offer
