Cenovus is looking for a DCS Technologist to program and maintain Upstream Oil and Gas DCS Systems through PLC, HMI, and RTU configuration. Key responsibilities include providing front-line Operations and Maintenance DCS support, troubleshooting system issues, and implementing and documenting MoC packages. Work Environment:
This position is located in Lloydminster and requires the successful candidate to live in the areaThis is a full-time employee position working a shift rotation (5 days on followed by 2 days off, Mon – Fri, 8 hours per day)What you’ll do:
Implement control strategies through the MoC process update engineering documentation and provide commissioning supportEnsure precise and dependable data representation in the DCS focusing on well testing meter configurations and data historiansAct as a representative for OT DCS with Internal OT Upstream Operations Maintenance and ICE Engineering teamsPrioritize tasks and schedule work using a digital ticketing systemDesign program and commission automation systems ensuring they meet organizational standardsMaintain and optimize automation systems solving issues to enhance efficiency and reliabilityImplement control strategies test software for PLCs HMIs and RTUs and integrate these systems into existing processesCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless operation and continuous improvement of the DCS and MoC processWho you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
Legally authorized to work in CanadaBachelor’s Degree, Technical Diploma, or Journeyman Trades Certificate from an accredited institutionMinimum of 8 years related automation experience in the oil and gas, petrochemical, pulp and paper, or power generation industriesStrong understanding of industrial automation systems related to DCS (PlantPAX), PLC/HMI (Rockwell) and/or RTU/SCADA including logic, graphics and industrial communication processesFamiliarity with Operations applications (Historians, OPC Interfaces) and experience with plant construction, SAT testing, commissioning, and start-up is an assetProficient in desktop tools, such as SAP and BluebeamUnderstanding and adhering to the Management of Change (MoC) process to ensure safety and complianceWe acknowledge the value of transferrable skills and may consider equivalent combinations of experience and education should you not meet a specific requirement.
As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.
For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
