DDG Project Manager
Job Title: DDG Project Manager

Overview:

We currently have 2 openings for Project Managers in Norfolk, VA with ship repair/maintenance experience. Some new construction experience is fine, but the preference is heavy on the repair side. The current breakdown at the moment is needing 2 PM's with DDG class ship experience.

Description:

Coordinates and schedules all work on vessel, providing work list for department heads. Liaison between port engineer and department heads. Schedules visit and/or inspections with regulatory bodies. Estimating: Supplies support on bids. Estimates additional items to the work package. Billing: Tracks all job cost. Provides weekly billing projections. Prepares, edits and proofreads correspondence, invoices, and related materials. Submits completed invoices to the billing department for payment. Solid knowledge on ship engineering and operational systems. Extremely organized and excels in time management. Sets short term and long-term goals strategically prioritizing each job schedule and coordinating department man hours. Implements, manages and coordinates the repairs of vessels in a shipyard in a safe manner. Responsible for budget, schedule, and quality for the project assigned. Responsible to establish the contract baseline and for maintaining that baseline for the life of the project. Establishes budgets and approve schedules for the project. Determines the scope of the work package, evaluates the ability of the Production Department to support the work package, and recommends modification of the work package. Approves all time charges and material expenditures, unless he specifically delegates some of those duties to his assigned supervisors. Identify improvements that can be made in work practices and processes. Understand and act upon instruction. Work independently to complete responsibilities. Must have regular, reliable attendance.

Qualifications:

Ship repair and maintenance experience. Minimum of five years shipboard experience, either within the trades or from serving in the Navy. DDG class ship experience/exposure. Previous supervisory responsibilities required. Technical training preferred. Expert knowledge of and ability to use hand tools and instruments associated with the trade. Must be able to work effectively with others. Must be a steady, reliable worker. Must be self-motivated and able to complete responsibilities with minimal direction. Must be able to work and communicate effectively with others. Familiar with OSHA regulations relative to the shipbuilding industry. About Actalent
