Job Description & Summary

A career in PwC Deals Value Creation practice will provide you with a unique and exciting opportunity to help industry-leading clients and brands reach their full potential. You will advise buyers and sellers across the M&A continuum (i.e. pre-deal, deal execution, post-deal) as well as during other major events such as ownership successions or periods of financial stress. In this role, you will gain valuable first-hand experience in a variety of deals situations including acquisitions, divestitures, mergers, turnarounds and insolvencies. No matter what the scenario, you’ll work to inspire clients while being supported by leaders who care about and support your personal development.

Operational Value Enhancement 

Operational Value Enhancement is part of PwC’s Deals Value Creation team which also includes capabilities such as Deals Strategy, Value Insights, Delivering Deal Value, and People in Deals. As a Manager in Operational Value Enhancement, you will lead project teams in the delivery of operations-focused consulting engagements, contribute to business development pursuits and participate in a wide range of professional development activities and initiatives.   

You will gain hands-on experience in industry sectors such as Manufacturing, Transportation and Logistics, Healthcare, Retail & Consumer, Construction and leverage other industry-specialized experience from your past as applicable. You will combine analytical and strong interpersonal skills to help you develop strong relationships and high-quality outcomes for clients while simultaneously promoting learning, community and skills development within your teams.  

Meaningful work you’ll be part of  

As a Manager in Operational Value Enhancements, you will:  

Work on a wide variety of interesting, important & challenging projects: 

Engagements will include a mix of direct (e.g. operational due diligence) and indirect deals situations (e.g. developing and/or assisting in the execution of value creation plans, sell-side preparation, synergy realization) 

All engagements will involve clear deliverables, timelines and budgets 

Partner directly with some of the best and brightest teammates and clients  

Coordinate service delivery with other teams from PwC, other global PwC firms and external advisors (e.g. investment bankers, lawyers, accountants) 

Develop, coach, and mentor junior team members, including providing timely meaningful written and verbal feedback  

Demonstrate your passion for operations in interactions with your colleagues and counsel junior staff who are interested in operations as to the benefits of a career path in this area 

Experiences and skills you’ll use to solve: 

Previous manager-level experience in professional services/consulting environment with focus on core operations and direct industry client experience 

Experience with operational due diligence, operational cost reduction, operational restructuring and turnaround 

Interest in helping businesses and organizations succeed through innovation and independent thinking and change initiatives 

An ability to think critically and balance independent work progress while incorporating guidance from more senior teammates 

An ability to travel to client sites across Canada (expect some temporary periods of regular travel) 

Strong written and verbal communication skills that are clear and concise with ability to easily digest and simplify complex concepts into easy-to-understand summaries 

Growth mindset - continuous learning, seek to improve, embrace new ideas, perspectives, technology

A demonstrated commitment to valuing differences, developing and coaching diverse teams, and ensuring diverse perspectives are heard 

 In addition, one or more of the following areas of additional expertise would also be an asset:   

Experience with integration &/or large-scale transformation programs   

MBA and/or advanced education is helpful  

Lean Six Sigma certification
