Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications. The Dean provides vision, leadership, and operational oversight for the College's academic programs, research initiatives, community engagement, and budgetary management. The Dean promotes teaching, research, and service excellence, fostering a welcoming and supportive academic culture. The Dean is critical in strengthening partnerships with external stakeholders, including government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and community leaders, and developing new ones. The Dean also plays a crucial role in securing funding through grants, gifts, and other external sources to enhance the College's mission and objectives. The Dean is a key regional voice promoting the value of public service education and public service professionalism. **Essential Functions** The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: _Strategic Leadership & Administration_ + Provide visionary leadership to enhance the College's role in advancing public service education and research. + Develop and execute strategic plans in alignment with the UCCS mission and academic priorities. + Oversee budget planning, resource allocation, and fiscal management to ensure long-term financial sustainability. + Serve as the primary advocate and spokesperson for the College within the university, CU system, and external stakeholders. + Collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and university leadership to promote interdisciplinary initiatives and foster an innovative academic environment. _Academic Excellence & Faculty Development_ + Lead Public Service faculty in advancing teaching, research, and service excellence. + Oversee faculty recruitment, retention, promotion, tenure, annual review, and workload assignments. + Support professional development opportunities for faculty and staff. + Promote a culture of collaboration and innovation across departments. + Ensure curriculum quality, accreditation compliance, and continuous program improvement. _Student Success & Community Engagement_ + Champion student-centered initiatives that enhance learning, retention, and career readiness. + Strengthen partnerships with government agencies, law enforcement, nonprofit organizations, and social service providers to create real-world learning experiences. + Advocate for collaboration and fairness within the College's academic programs and student services. + Expand professional networking, internship, and mentorship opportunities for students. _Fundraising & External Partnerships_ + Lead efforts to secure external funding through grants, gifts, and philanthropic partnerships. + Engage with alumni, industry leaders, and community partners to enhance the College's impact. + Develop new revenue-generating initiatives and public-private collaborations to expand educational opportunities. + Promote the visibility and reputation of the College regionally, nationally, and globally. _Accreditation, Compliance, & Shared Governance_ + Ensure compliance with university policies, accreditation standards, and legal regulations, specifically with the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA) and Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). + Support shared governance and collaborative decision-making among faculty, staff, and administration. + Maintain transparent and equitable policies for faculty, staff, and students. + Nurture a decision-making environment that balances equitable departmental priorities with strategic allocation of resources to maintain college growth. + Fosters trust and collegiality in the workplace that promotes equitable contribution from staff and faculty to move the college agenda forward. **Tentative Search Timeline** + Priority will be given to applications submitted by: **March 4, 2025.** + Potential interview dates: **March 10, 2025 -
