The successful candidate will work with the Energy Systems and Climate Analysis group at EPRI (http://esca.epri.com), a team of leading energy and electric power systems modelers and climate economists, to conduct novel research on energy systems modeling and decarbonization analysis.
You will help support this work by researching and compiling quantitative and qualitative information on energy system decarbonization scenarios and policy analysis. You will also contribute to research reports and communications materials as needed and work in close collaboration with project leads.
Strong consideration will be given to candidates with an interest and background in energy modeling and familiarity with climate policy. The ESCA team offers the opportunity to work with established experts in a stimulating and innovative environment to tackle key research questions in collaboration with electric companies and government partners.
You can choose to work remotely, in one of EPRI’s offices, or a mix of the two.
The ideal candidate has:
Currently engaged in a degree (undergraduate or advanced) in engineering, economics, operations research, computer science, or a related discipline
Experience with energy or economic models or datasets involving these models
Interest in the economics of the transition to low-carbon technologies and climate policy
Experience conducting quantitative analyses to answer market, policy, and/or technology research questions
Excellent research and writing skills; strong oral communications skills; ability to present technically complex information in a clear and concise manner
A positive attitude, curious, and comfortable working both collaboratively and independently
Understanding of Microsoft Office suite, visualization tools, and other relevant applications

The hourly rate range for Student positions are:
Undergraduate: $16-29 per hourMasters: $25-31 per hourPh.D: $27-34 per hourThese ranges are an estimate, and the actual hourly rate may vary based on various factors, including without limitation applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The hourly rate may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.
As an EPRI Student, you will not participate in EPRI’s Benefit Programs which includes health insurance, retirement benefits, vacation, sick leave (except as set required by law) and holiday pay. However, as a Student employee you are eligible for the benefits of Social Security, State Disability Insurance, and Workers’ Compensation Insurance.
For Student positions which require one to relocate to an EPRI office. Relocation assistance is not provided and the student will be responsible for covering all relocation costs/expenses.
