DIVISION OVERVIEW:
Crown’s Beverage Division manufactures a variety of packaging solutions for soft drinks, craft beers, coffees and teas as well as new energy drinks. PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Set up, adjust and maintain automatic decorators, coaters and related back-end equipment. Maintainer has primary responsibility for production and quality on assigned equipment.
TOOLS & EQUIPMENT:
Spray machines, coaters and decorators, ovens, neckers, flangers, testers, elevators, conveyors, air/ mechanical single filers, palletizers, hand and powered trucks, hand and power tools and gauges, broom, mop, paint.
MATERIALS:
Plain and decorated cans, lubricants, lacquers, varnishes, coatings, inks, solvents, janitorial supplies, etc.
DUTIES:
Check schedule to determine need for change-over or if scheduled maintenance is in order. Determine if schedule can be adjusted and time allows for overhaul, repair or re- adjustments required by equipment. Check machines. Analyze any and all types of mechanical or operational troubles and plan for and take corrective action. Make necessary corrections and running adjustments while operating to maintain maximum production. Make change-overs by setting up assigned equipment for change in material, label, size, etc. Make repairs or overhauls short of machining parts. Replace worn or damaged parts. Re- time machine action. Clean and lubricate as required. Clear jams. Check lacquer, coating, inks and lubricants and add or change materials. Request or obtain additional quantities and supplies. Examine, test and measure product from assigned equipment for quality specifications, using appropriate gauges and instruments record the relevant information. Check product for visual defects. Ensure product, equipment and materials are conforming to requirements. Make preventative maintenance checks and inspections of assigned equipment, report findings and take appropriate action. Complete assigned process and maintenance shift Reports. Analyze spoilage as to cause and take corrective action. Analyze production and non- conformances, document and report. Advise internal suppliers of problems and requirements. Notify superintendent of any incidences of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective action taken as well as any non-conforming supplies or materials. Ensure the smooth flow of cans to and from assigned area. Facilitate reliefs throughout the back-end area when necessary. Keep assigned area clean and hazard free. Ensure that all safety equipment, devices and guards are properly used and in place at all times. Follow safe working procedures and safety rules.
