Demand Response Manager

**Job Description:**
Accountable for the overall success of Tri-State’s emerging Demand Response (DR) portfolio. Collaborate with Tri-State members, contractors, and internal teams to develop, launch and manage DR programs. The initial focus will be creating a culture of operational excellence by establishing consistent program management processes and building effective relationships across the Tri-State organization and its Membership. This position will also develop and drive the long-term strategy for Tri-State’s DR initiatives and successfully communicate this strategy to align stakeholders towards beneficial outcomes.

**Demand Response Manager**
Hiring Salary Range: $118,000-$151,000
Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary outside of the posted hiring salary range based upon work experience, education, and/or skill level.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Manage, direct, and develop staff.
+ Develop and manage implementation strategy for demand response initiatives, programs, and stakeholder outreach.
+ Establish program management practices such as building repeatable processes, documenting process workflows, developing RASCI matrices and program operational manuals.
+ Develop long-term product and portfolio strategies. Monitor progress and pivot as needed to execute strategic initiatives.
+ Work with internal stakeholders on branding, publicity, and opportunities for influencing demand response
+ Identify barriers to program adoption and work with both internal and external stakeholders to address these and develop effective solutions.
+ Participate in industry associations, working groups, and other energy organizations to share information and provide opportunities to improve and grow the DR portfolio.
+ Study and evaluate demand response potential, economic environments, sustainability requirements, and develop strategic initiatives to deploy these opportunities.
+ Stay current with industry trends and innovations across program design, technology, implementation strategy and regulatory policy.
+ Manage DR programs to increase resource optimization. Ensure appropriate system configuration and adequate system maintenance to maintain effective operations.
+ Provide for integration of systems supporting field operations, provide technical capability as required by all members. Develops and implements routine, preventative, and corrective maintenance practices.
+ Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures and attain knowledge and remain knowledgeable of regulations, laws, standards, and best practices applicable to functional area.
+ Because Tri-State has an obligation to provide continuous, reliable electric service to its customers, the ability to work overtime at any time of the day or week is considered an essential function of the job.

**Qualifications:**
Education and Training:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or related area.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:
+ Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.
+ Ability to maintain effective working relationships.
+ Ability to make clear, consistent, and timely decisions.
+ Ability to lead a team of individual contributors and provide guidance, direction, and professional development while managing performance.
+ Ability to maintain clear and open communication with various business unit stakeholders and research partners within and outside of the enterprise.
+ Working knowledge of regulations impacting electric utilities.
+ Understanding of demand response trends in energy markets.

+ Willingness to travel as required. (Must possess a valid driver’s license.)
**DESIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Knowledge of demand response, program development and deployment, performance tracking, and stakeholder engagement.
+ Experience developing and launching DR/DSM programs
+ Experience managing DR/DSM programs including responsibilities for enrolling dispatchable assets, monitoring performance of DR fleet, performing event M&V, and overseeing billing settlements, etc.
+ Experience managing DR products within a DERMS platform
+ Experience managing registered resources and/or interacting with organized markets such as SPP, MISO, CAISO, etc.
+ Three (3) years’ supervisory experience preferred.
