Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant Intern to join our dynamic dental team. This internship is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about oral health and looking to gain hands-on experience in a clinical setting. As a Dental Assistant Intern, you will work closely with experienced dental professionals, learning the daily operations of a dental practice and assisting with patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to: Assist the dentist during various dental procedures, including examinations, fillings, and extractions.Prepare and sterilize dental instruments, equipment, and treatment rooms.Take and develop dental X-rays (under supervision).Provide chairside assistance by passing instruments and materials to the dentist during procedures.Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-operative care.Ensure patients' comfort before, during, and after dental treatments.Record patient information, medical histories, and treatment details accurately in dental charts.Manage inventory and restock supplies as needed.Perform administrative duties, including appointment scheduling, patient check-ins, and maintaining patient records.Follow all infection control protocols and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Qualifications Currently enrolled in or recently completed a Dental Assisting Program or related field. Must be in good standing with their program.Basic understanding of dental terminology, procedures, and equipment.Basic knowledge of dental software is a plus. Knowledge and Skills/Expected Competencies Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.Excellent organization, prioritization, follow up, analytical and time management skills with ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines. Ability to work well in a team and maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.Willingness to learn and take on new tasks.Physical/Mental Demands and Work Environment
