Department Manager - Automation and Controls
**Description** This position is responsible for the Global leadership of the Automation and Controls discipline. The individual that fills this position will be responsible for oversight of Automation and Controls solutions, coordinating engagement and collaboration across all offices to propagate core Automation and Controls capabilities, solution standards and best practices, delivery processes and coordination that will position the organization for significant growth. This position will have significant influence of the prioritization of annual business objectives related to the Automation and Controls Engineering discipline. Specific areas of responsibility include the following, with other duties as assigned by senior management: + Organize, lead and inspire collaboration across the Automation and Controls team, building a professional community and collaboration to advance best practices across the organization. + Collaborate across the global team with all critical stakeholders to recruit, hire, and develop Automation and Controls capability throughout the global organization. + Develop a positive and engaging culture within the Automation and Controls department that increases retention and take responsibility for tracking progress. + Driving continuous improvement and developing a training program for Automation and Controls engineers that differentiate the Automation and Controls business and drive the development of best practices. + Drive increased execution of quality of Automation and Controls work with BMI and take responsibility for tracking those improvements and utilization goals. + Globally promotes business initiatives from leadership. + Recommend changes in basic structure and organization of the department to ensure the effective fulfillment of objectives assigned to it. + Manages global project staffing to consider career growth of individuals as well as project needs. Collaborate, manage and assign Automation and Controls work directly for Automation and Controls and collaborate to ensure the efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff across the GP. + Develops a comprehensive operational plan for the global Automation and Controls discipline. **Qualifications** + Bachelor Degree in engineering, architecture, construction or related degree from accredited program and 7 years related professional experience in design and/or project management required. Bachelor's degree in Automation and Controls engineering, preferred. + Experience successfully leading in Automation and Controls discipline across full lifecycle of EPC project. + Minimum 7 years, 15 preferred, related professional experience and must have demonstrated experience with providing technical automation and controls engineering leadership across the enterprise, major projects/programs/clients, EPC experience and within all GFS business lanes. + Previous management experience is strongly preferred. + Candidate must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients. + Candidate must be experienced in managing cultural change and developing organizational capability to improve business results. + Position requires the ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and develop the organization. + Candidates must possess strong business management skills and a strategic perspective. + Position requires 40% travel. + Licensed Electrical or Automation and Controls Engineer is strongly preferred.
