Job Description:
The ADM Spokane Flour Mill is seeking an Elevator Superintendent to manage a 5+ million bushel elevator that receives 4 varieties of wheat.
Operational responsibilities will include administration and management of approximately 6 hourly employees in a union environment.
Responsibilities:
This position has overall responsibility for the elevator operations. The Superintendent must investigate the means by which elevator operating procedures can be improved, and initiates improvements in the efficiency of the department operations. As a member of management, you are expected to set a model safety example by following and enforcing all safety practices. This includes looking for, reporting, and correcting safety hazards and poor practices during daily rounds of the elevator. The elevator superintendent ensures that the quality level of grain is maintained at an appropriate and acceptable level. Researches, & makes recommendations regarding process improvements or modification that might improve design, quality, reliability, safety, and reduce manufacturing. Perform GMP and safety audits, maintain the plants rail tracks and feed loading systems.
The Superintendent will also be responsible for managing the bulk truck Feed Loadout Department.
The Superintendent must be able to put together projects to improve elevator operations, i.e. energy reduction, efficiency, cost reduction, and follow through on completion of the said projects. This position requires a strong sense of ownership, accountability and continuous improvement.
The Elevator Superintendent will also provide leadership and mentoring for colleague development. Fill in in other departments as needed. This development may include training, technical support, mentoring and periodic performance feedback. Experience leading teams is preferred.
The physical requirements of the job requires ability to climb stairs, prolonged periods of standing and sitting, computer work, meeting deadlines, providing calculated information, working in confined spaces and from heights, bending, kneeling, working adjusted hours, and working as instructed. Prompt attendance is a must.
Experience and Skills:Bachelor’s degree is preferred.5+ years of grain handling experience preferred.Demonstrated participation and leadership in plant safety programs and process hazard analysis.Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage personnel, schedules, and other resources.Excellent communication skills – both oral and detailed written are needed to be effective in this position.Strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills are necessary to effectively interact with multiple employees, management personnel, and other stakeholders. Interpersonal skills employed include handling conflict; motivating, instructing, and training personnel in a fair, honest, and direct way.The candidate must be able to utilize independent judgment to solve problems, have excellent organizational skills to effectively handle multiple ongoing tasks, and strive for continuous improvement.General knowledge of software systems such as Maximo, Coupa, and Microsoft Office applications (Project, Excel, Access, Word, and SharePoint) preferred.Excited about this role but don’t meet every requirement listed? Salary/Wage Range: The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $88,000 to $120,000 per year, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Bonus Eligible: Yes
The total compensation package for this position will also include other elements, including: eligibility for annual discretionary bonuses. Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans then in effect, eligible employees may enroll in a 401(k) plan as well as participate in medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance plans for the employee and the employee’s eligible dependents. Employees will also receive 120 hours of paid time off on January 1st of each year and 12 paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Eligible employees may also take up to 12 weeks of paid [parental/disability/emergency/etc.] leave.
