Element has an opportunity for a Department Supervisor.
In this role you will be expected to operationally and technically supervise the day-to-day activities of the Mechanical Laboratory to achieve the primary objectives of safety, quality, and service delivery that Element and its clients require. Will be responsible for Operations, Technical excellence, Safety and Client Management within the area of control.
This position will be based in Ghatkopar West, Mumbai, India
Responsibilities Planning, supervising, and controlling all activities related to mechanical testingPerform Room Temperature Tensile, Elevated Temperature Tensile, Hardness (Rockwell & Brinell) Izod/ Charpy Impact using internal procedures and published industry methodsMaintain qualifications to perform these tests and use calibrated hand tools such as micrometer, caliper, compass, and ruler to take measurements and record them into the test recordsEnsure that all equipment (standards) used for performing tests are calibrated prior to useManage third party witnesses for testing and calibration activitiesRecord and maintain maintenance, calibration history of the lab equipmentCreate quotations and/or assist with the technical review of quotations for Mechanical value stream orders and supervise in the areas of client liaison and careCommunicate any issues (safety, product flow, equipment, customer etc.) to management and mechanical test team membersPerform all work using the job safety requirements and proper PPEManage , train and mentor a team of Sr and Jr Mechanical technicians while reporting to the section manager to manage the laboratory’s business operationallyMaintenance of Health and Safety and Quality standards within NABL accredited 17025 quality management systemsOverall responsibility for timely sample turnaround and customer satisfaction Skills / Qualifications Degree/Diploma in Mechanical / Metallurgy / Materials Science with relevant experience in third party testing laboratory for a minimum of 5 yearsLIMS use experienceStrong background with mechanical testing and evaluationStrong and determined quality focusFamiliar with all methods of mechanical lab analytical and method testing for tensile, hardness, impact, bendingExperience in performing welding jobs and heat treatment jobs as per international standards and customer specifications for assessment of mechanical propertiesSelf-motivated team player with excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to work under pressure to meet targetsExperienced to deal with NABL audits
