Deputy Center Director

The Deputy Center Director plans, organizes, administers, and oversees student programs and activities necessary to effectively operate and meet the objectives of Job Corps Center students.  

Duties/Responsibilities:

Responsible for the overall administration of assigned components of the Job Corps Center.Responsible for meeting center’s established goals and objectives, ensuring the Center is maintaining 100% OBS, and meeting the Center’s Career Transition (placement) goals that are determined based on the National Office Standards.Be aware and be familiar with the National Job Corps Office Visions and Goals, Regional Office initiatives, goals, plans, and projects. Responsible to communicate this information to the Center Director and appropriate staff.Ensures that the Center maintains the highest level of Data Integrity in all reporting of Center statistics and metrics.Serves as Center Director as necessary, in the absence of the Center Director.Builds a continuing relationship with community leaders, local employers, social and civic organizations.Ensures the Center Director is kept abreast of all pertinent matters regarding students, staff, safety and other issues that require collaboration.Develops and maintains open lines of communication with staff to provide a free flow of information to the Center Director.Conducts regular departmental staff meetings and in-service training sessions.May be responsible for planning and managing departmental budgets, making sure spending is under control and funds are wisely utilized.Provides necessary reports for the Department of Labor and CSD.Prepares departments for DOL/Corporate Assessments.Complies with Equal Employment and Affirmative Action policies.Responsible for the safe operation of assigned center functions and also the safety of the students.Prepares and conducts staff performance evaluations.Conducts interviews when there are direct report vacancies in respective areas and recommend staff for hire in a timely manner.All other duties as assigned. Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree plus three years’ experience in program management and direction in Job Corps or similar training program. Must have experience working with youth. Capable of creating an environment where student retention and placement are also focus points.

Preferred: Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working with the program’s targeted population, in a residential setting.

Knowledge: Knowledge of working with young adults in education, training, and a residential living environment, including being familiar with Academics and Career Technical Training. Also, familiar with contract administration, performance goals and fiscal analysis. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, physical and mental toughness to withstand long hours, as needed. Ability to establish rapport and relate effectively with students and to direct and inspire staff.

Salary Description $78,000 - $87,718
