Now’s your chance. **The Opportunity** Abt is seeking a Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) for the anticipated five-year USAID-funded Pacific Economic Growth (PEG) Activity. The Activity will advance inclusive and resilient economic growth in the Pacific Islands region. The Activity will cover the following geographic scope: Fiji, Kiribati, Palau, Republic of Marshall Islands (RMI), Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), Nauru, Samoa, Tonga, and Tuvalu. The Activity seeks to advance economic growth, climate resilience, and inclusive development by: + Improving the climate resiliency of local enterprises and infrastructure + Supporting local small and medium enterprises to access markets and financing + Facilitating greater trade and private investment + Strengthening public financial management and domestic resource mobilization As the DCOP you will be responsible for implementing the strategic vision of the Chief of Party by providing technical leadership. You will serve as a secondary liaison with the client. You will bring integral knowledge of the current challenges that Pacific Island small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are facing as related to the above development objectives. Your technical expertise will include economic growth and private sector engagement. Your professional experience will require you to integrate inclusive approaches that better serve women, youth and underserved populations. As the DCOP you will facilitate collaboration and teamwork, including mentorship and development of local technical staff. The DCOP must have experience managing donor-funded activities and demonstrated experience working with and through the private sector. This will be a long-term position based in **Suva, Fiji** . The position is contingent upon the activity’s award and USAID approval. The tentative start date is October 2025. **Core Responsibilities** + Support the Chief of Party (COP) through implementation of technical vision by leading a team of technical staff. + Serve as a member of the senior leadership team of the program and support the COP in oversight of project staff and activities. + Lead, under the supervision of the COP, one or more of the technical areas/objectives of the Pacific Economic Growth Activity. + Directly supervise and contribute to the successful implementation of tasks designed to meet the Pacific Economic Growth Activity objectives. + Co-lead and oversee programmatic functions, i.e., development of work plans, budgets, quarterly/annual reports, and ensure effective implementation of program strategy. + Provide inputs to and review of all deliverables for quality, accuracy, and completeness in accordance with relevant contractual requirements. + Ensure incorporation of inclusive approaches and principles, including Gender, Equality, and Social Inclusion (GESI) and Positive Youth Development (PYD) principles. + Build and advance productive working relationships with local partners, stakeholders, and beneficiaries. + Participate in and/or prepare project reports, including presentations. + Use analytical and evaluative techniques to identify, analyze, and resolve issues or problems. + May serve in an acting capacity in the absence of the COP. + Other duties as assigned. **What We Value** + Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business Administration, International Development, or similar field. + A minimum of twelve years (or Master’s and 10 years) of progressive professional experience in managing projects in private sector engagement, economic growth, SME development, or similar in the Pacific Islands . + Experience managing and implementing donor-funded projects/programs in the Pacific Islands; regional program implementation preferred. + Experience with inclusive (e.g. GESI, PYD, etc.) approaches and applications. + Ability to manage objective level technical implementation, within budget, to achieve or surpass results. + Demonstrated ability to work and coordinate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders, including national and sub-national governments, the donor community, and private sector. + Proven ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with a broad range of partners. + Experience leveraging the private sector for engagement is highly preferred. + Established network within the Pacific Island private sector is highly preferred. + Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and either Fijian and/or Fijian Hindi required. **What We Offer** We foster an environment where you can Thrive Your Way.
