Deputy Manager - Residential Family Centre
Location: Sawbridgeworth
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: Full-time
Contract Type: Permanent

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Deputy Manager to join our Residential Family Centre in Sawbridgeworth. The centre provides care, accommodation, and residential parenting assessments for up to 10 families, ensuring that children remain at the heart of all decisions.

Job Purpose

As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the service, ensuring high-quality care and parenting assessments are delivered in line with best practices and regulatory requirements. You will provide leadership, guidance, and supervision to the team while ensuring a safe, supportive, and structured environment for families.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the overall management of the Residential Family Centre, ensuring compliance with Ofsted regulations and relevant legislation.Lead, mentor, and supervise staff, promoting a positive and supportive working environment.Oversee parenting assessments, working closely with social workers and multi-agency teams to support families.Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed and risk assessments are effectively managed.Monitor and improve the quality of care and service delivery through effective leadership, staff development, and training.Support with recruitment, performance management, and disciplinary procedures as required.Maintain accurate records, reports, and care plans in line with statutory requirements.Act as a point of contact for external professionals, ensuring positive relationships with local authorities, social workers, and other stakeholders.Deputise for the Registered Manager in their absence, ensuring the smooth operation of the centre.

The Successful Candidate Will Have:

A Level 3 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care (Children & Young People).Experience working within a Residential Family Centre or similar setting.A strong understanding of child protection, safeguarding, and parenting assessments.Proven experience in staff supervision, leadership, and team development.The ability to work in a high-pressure environment, managing complex cases with a child-centred approach.Knowledge of Ofsted regulations and statutory requirements within a residential setting.Excellent report writing, communication, and decision-making skills.A commitment to promoting best practices and continuous improvement within the service.A DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service) or willingness to undergo one.Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or on-call as needed to support the service.
