Overview This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. The Deputy Project Manager shall support the Project Manager and act on behalf of the Project Manager when PM is on leave. Responsibilities Major Job Activities: Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring safety is the highest priority in the workplace. Comply with all Environmental & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals. Provide information and materials to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation. Responsible for managing, monitoring and tracking services. Responsible for allocating and managing staff resources according to changing needs. Identify problem areas and respond to mission requirements to perform task order requirements. Plan and manage projects. Control resources; monitor staff proficiency and qualifications; monitor the locations and activities of assets; and coordinate the flow of information to and from staff and USG representatives. Resolve issues. Working Environment: The working environment is an austere desert environment and is frequently cramped. Temperatures can reach 120 – 130 degrees Fahrenheit (50 – 55 degrees Celsius) during the summer months. Personnel shall be able to perform certain emergency functions to include responding to duck-and-cover alarms, quickly seeking cover in a protected bunker, opening heavy doors (some more than 100 pounds), climbing stairs, and boarding/de-boarding helicopters on an independent basis. When traveling in country, employees are required to wear a helmet and body armor that together weigh a minimum of thirty (30) pounds. Depending on security conditions, the body armor and helmet may have to be worn throughout the workday. Sometimes, there is a need to walk significant distances through rough and uneven terrain wearing body armor while carrying equipment and/or work materials. Movement on compound requires walking up and down several flights of stairs throughout the day. Physical Activities: When traveling in country, employees are required to wear a helmet and body armor that together weigh a minimum of thirty (30) pounds. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Education / Certifications: A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction, Facilities, Contracts or related field, , or at least ten (10) years of direct experience in project management in lieu of formal education. Experience: Minimum Acceptable Experience Level: Ten (10) years support services and/or facilities management experience with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in managing such services to large facilities or operations (+$50M/annual) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated working knowledge of O&M activities for a comparable facility. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage staff. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules. Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects. Cross-cultural sensitivity with an international perspective. Excellent analytical, organizational, problem solving and time management skills. Expert computer skills, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to become an active and functioning member of a team. Ability to be innovative and be an agent for change. Good verbal and written communication skills to direct employees, prepare reports for upper management and facilitate/disseminate information. Security Vetting: Already possess a U.S. Government (USG) issued Secret security clearance or be able obtain a favorable USG Secret clearance prior to being hired is required for the position. Must maintain eligibility at the required clearance level for the duration of the task order. Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license from home of record. Desired: Certified Professional Maintenance Manager (CPMM), or similar certification. Relevant overseas facilities management experience. Previous international experience and previous work experience in harsh environmental conditions. Experience working with Contractor. Supervisory / Budget Responsibilities: Supervisor.
