The incumbent of this position performs highly responsible executive level work in financial planning, budgeting, procurement and financial reporting for the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) at the direction of the Undersecretary and at the broad direction of the Secretary. These functional areas, with statewide scope and responsibilities, have critical impact on the overall effectiveness and success of DCFS operations and the Department’s ability to achieve its core mission. This position may be filled as a probational appointment or a job appointment that may last up to 48 months. Job appointments may convert to probational appointments. Also, it may be filled as a detail and promoted within 12 months or by promotion of a permanent classified employee. For additional information about this vacancy, please contact Shanita Smith via email at Shanita.Smith.DCFS@La.Gov Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Two years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been at the managerial level or above: Eight years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating administrative programs, operational programs, or special projects or initiatives within a public or private sector organization; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field plus five years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating administrative programs, operational programs, or special projects or initiatives within a public or private sector organization; OR A bachelor’s degree plus five years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating administrative programs, operational programs, or special projects or initiatives within a public or private sector organization; OR An advanced degree, or a Juris Doctorate, plus four years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating administrative programs, operational programs, or special projects or initiatives within a public or private sector organization. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Directs program evaluations; discusses results with the Undersecretary and works with subordinate administrators to improve operations as needed. Reviews and revises budget recommendations for assigned activities. Conducts staff meetings and conferences with division directors to discuss operations, organization, budgetary matters, personnel matters, technical issues, and the status of programs and projects. Coordinates or directs special projects or reports relating to assigned activities.
